I’m from Norway and this hotel’s location is bang on—less than five minutes from Times Square and the theaters. Proper handy for getting about, no stress. Room was cozy and quiet, which was a bit surprising given all the hustle outside. Staff were sound, helped me out with loads of tips. Wi-Fi worked fine, no faff. Price was decent too—way cheaper than loads of other spots nearby. If you want to be in the thick of things without spending a fortune, this place is a solid shout. Would recommend, no doubt.

60 Minutes featured the Carter on a segment about New York’s “welfare hotels” back in the 80s. It had floors for tourists and others for welfare recipients. Tourist rooms were similar to what they have today: spartan and geared toward the most budget-driven traveler. Those for welfare recipients had cockroaches crawling all over the place, women and children sleeping six or more to a tiny room and walls in a horrific dark color with mold everywhere. 60 Minutes attempted to address the pitfalls with management at the time, but they refused to respond or do anything. I highly recommend avoiding the place if only to punish management for their negligence over the years. They don’t deserve anyone’s custom. The place should be torn down and rebuilt if only to bury the past.

If you enjoy Times Square and NYC, this is a good place to stay. There is no parking here outside of expensive paid parking lots nearby.

I was worried when I read the other reviews. I spent two nights the weekend before Christmas and I must say I was impressed. You want luxury... go waste your money elsewhere. This hotel served it's purpose: someplace to rest your head after a long night in the city. Clean, pleasant smelling room, with a comfy bed, no bed bugs, a clean bathroom and plenty of hot water. The staff was pleasant. I will definitely be using this place again. I believe the other negative reviews were just over exaggerated. Trust me you will not be disappointed. There is even a cozy cafe with bargain prices for breakfast. I give it five stars because I feel it was worth every penny being that it was smack in the middle of Manhattan, the room/bathroom was clean and the staff was pleasant. Thank You Hotel

Booked for only $99/night in April 2014. 🤑 Best possible price for the stay, only half a block away from infamous Time Square! 🌃 Zero complaints. No bugs. 💯 Yes, it was sorta in disrepair but what did you expect? Wonderful hotel, I would come back when they had a space for me. ♥️ NYC
