I had a great stay here ☺️ The crew were very sweet to me and always considered my wishes and needs. I stayed for two months a time, two different times. The bathrooms were always newly cleaned and because of that there was no problem sharing them. Some showers were better than others but there are a lot of bathrooms in the building so there is always a good shower to find. Bare in mind it is an old building with sometimes weak internet and sometimes sound coming from the heaters, but I still felt well taken care of and the staff did what they could to help me anytime. I never had any signs of bugs or other hygienic issues. Everything was clean. Beware there is no kitchen, but I asked to get microwave to my room for free and added fridge to my room for an extra monthly cost. It worked

I stayed for 2 nights to attend concerts at the Fimore. The Filmre was with in walking distance. There was also a parking garage around the corner. I had a wonderful stay. I really just needed a place to stay and sleep between concerts. The shared bathroom was right across the hallway. Many restaurants within walking distance. Beautiful park across the street. The price was great compared to other hotels in the area. I didn’t need luxury. I needed a bed and a bathroom. I’m so sad to hear it closed. I would have definitely stayed there again. The front desk was so helpful and pleasant.

We had a great stay at Hotel 17! The location is perfect — quiet, central, and close to the subway. The building is old but very clean, including the shared bathrooms. The staff were super kind and helpful, especially an Indian gentleman at the desk who upgraded us to a twin room for free after we booked the wrong type. The elevator sometimes didn’t work, but overall it was an excellent value for money in Manhattan.

Don't be put off by shared showers. We didn't wait and they seem to be cleaned regularly. The location was perfect for a busy time. You won't get anything as near as affordable. Beds comfy. Staff helpful. Free Wi fi. Walking distance to everything. Many eating options close by. Most affordable place and good location. Quiet.

Really bad WiFi generally. Not optimized for a large amount of guests. If you’re having to WFH you might struggle. They clearly have the cheap plan because the upload/download speeds are horrendous. To upload a 10MB photo, it’ll take you 10 minutes. The hot water is very in and out. You might not have any for several hours (especially because they use hot water on their linen wash days), only 5 minutes, or maybe 15 minutes if you’re lucky. Bathrooms are super clean. Nice staff if you’re nice. You can request a fridge for an additional fee. Honestly they should just have them in all the rooms. If you’re staying longer than 2 months, just buy your own mini fridge, it’ll be cheaper. Weekly room cleaning is nice. Some rooms updated, some aren’t.
