Holiday Inn Scranton East - Dunmore by IHG

Enjoyed our visit at Holiday Inn Scranton East- Dunmore. This hotel is large and spacious. It has changed over the years and while it no longer has the water park, it is a great place to get a good nights sleep while traveling Interstate 81. We received a warm welcome and farewell by Corey upon our arrival and departure. We did not use the pool but did use the treadmills in the fitness room. Although we walked through the restaurant area, we did not use either. The area is spacious.

Positive: Staff was very helpful Negative: The room was damp due to the pool being open to the hallway. It was very uncomfortable. The barn door on the bathroom offered little privacy and the frosted glass lit up the whole room in the middle of the night. We did not have a very restful night.

The hotel is clean and modern. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. The bar area was nice to sit and relax in. Our only issue was the pool area is not completely enclosed and everything echos. There were people/kids in the pool after 11 pm and we could hear them in our room. Our room was down the hall from the pool. If you have a room right next to the pool I'm sure it sounds 10x louder. Had we been there on a night when there weren't inconsiderate guests in the pool I probably would have given 5 stars.

I’ve been an IHG member for many years. Today was my first poor check-in experience. I approached the front desk to check in and no one was present. Two employees were sitting and in conversation in the lounge area of the lobby. Despite seeing me standing at the counter, they continued to converse and ignored my presence. Only after they completed their conversation did one decide to check me in. No IHG member greeting received. I ate in the restaurant afterward and had a pleasant experience. Room is clean and updated. I believe this front desk member should be reminded that WE THE CUSTOMERS pay her salary.

I don’t usually write reviews, but my experience at the Holiday Inn in Dunmore was so AMAZING that I had to make an exception. After a long drive, I walked in starving and ready for a good drink. That’s when I was greeted by the best bartender — Jen. She welcomed us with a big smile and the kind of personality you instantly connect with. She was personable, witty, funny, and truly elevated the entire experience. We love a bartender who can crack great one-liners and offer spot-on recommendations! The drinks were fantastic, and the soy salmon with rice was an absolute knockout. I’m so glad she suggested it. Jen took the time to ask what I liked and matched me with the perfect dish.
