Holiday Inn Miami Beach-Oceanfront by IHG

Extremely disappointing stay. Check-in set the tone: the front desk didn’t greet me at all—when I walked up, the employee just said “ID.” No welcome, no smile. I also booked a standard room with one bed but was going to be put in a room with two small beds instead. I’m a Platinum Elite member and received no acknowledgment of status and no welcome gift. The room itself was unacceptable. There was toilet paper with pubic hair on it in the toilet, hair on the towels, and what looked like blood or nail polish on the bathtub. The room phone’s service buttons didn’t work at all. The key cards repeatedly failed—they had to be reprogrammed at check-in and then again the next day because they stopped working before checkout. The view was of rooftop mechanical equipment that made constant noise

We had a very nice stay here but there were a few things worth noting that we did not like. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, starting with the penthouse floor and we were right below that so we heard quite a bit of the construction. The service elevator was clearly not working since the construction workers were using the guest elevators, of which there were only 2. This made for long wait times for the elevators. Our room was ready for us immediately upon check in (earlier than normal check in time), which was amazing! And while it was spotlessly clean and had a stunning ocean view, there were noticeable holes in the curtains and shower curtain. Despite a confirmed reservation, and a confirmation by phone the previous day, the hotel canceled my reservation on the evening when I arrived. They sent me to a lesser nearby hotel instead. But they made me pay full price of the Holiday Inn. The front desk didn’t care… I met several other guests in the same situation, also getting kicked out. Finally, the hotel didn’t want to give me an invoice for my stay. So dishonest, untrustworthy, unprofessional and incompetent. Never again will I go to an IHG group hotel. There are many better alternatives.

Really nice stay. Every single staff member was amazing. Haydee at the front desk was so kind and helpful. Housekeeping, valets, beach staff and groundskeepers were very friendly. Beach staff were so awesome and seemed happy to be there even on a windy and rainy day. ||Restaurant staff had a big dinner they were preparing for a group and still went out of their way to make the ordering of dinner smooth. Fish tacos were delicious.||Room was quiet and I got really good rest.

Close proximity to the beach - literally steps to the beach. Large, spacious lobby. One thing I have never seen before is a towel distributing machine in the lobby, which uses your room key to access beach towels. When my family arrived (early), due to disembarking from a cruise, our room wasn't ready yet, NBD. We were given a temporary key to access towels & to get back on property. Our room key didn't work & a kind, older gentleman helped us with towels. Construction was ongoing just outside, near the pool, but families/people were using the pool. We walked through the gate to the beach, but when we tried to get back on the property, the temporary room key again, did not work at the gate.
