Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kirksville - University Area by IHG

We had the misfortune of staying here right after our house burned to the ground in the middle of this winter. The rooms were very comfortable, not quite spotless and the shower seat was covered in what i really hope was old mud. But spacious, bright, and extremely comfortable bed. Shower was great. If the water pressure was any higher it would have blasted a hole in me. Perfect amenities, nice warm pool, clean gym etc. Sadly the staff were incredibly rude to me and made me feel very unwelcome, in the middle of one of the hardest moments of our lives. But I'm grown so I didn't really think that was a huge deal. Next morning I tried to extend our stay by one night, to which I was told the entire hotel is full. Nice hotel and seems fairly new. Breakfast and coffee were good. Room was clean and up to date. ||Location was good for campus visit to Truman. Only issue was pricing. They up charged for parents weekend with two night minimum stay. ||$250 a night, and didn't provide a two bed per room as requested. ||Would not stay here again during this weekend, avoid it.

This was a nice hotel, the staff were nice however since it is a pet friendly hotel I think there was pet dander still in the room from a different stay. I would feel fine throughout the day but once I got to this hotel I would start not feeling well ( nose stopped up, coughing, eyes itching ) and then once I would leave I was fine. I’m allergic to pet dander so that’s why I think that’s what this is. I had that issue Friday night and I felt better Saturday and then I stayed here Saturday night and when I woke up Sunday I was very sick. Unlike Saturday it did not go away once I left the hotel. It has now been three days and I am still sick. It was a nice hotel but I will never stay here again because I feel like crap still.

I stayed here last year for the first time and was very impressed with all they had to offer. When I planned my yearly trip to visit my family this was the first place I booked! The hotel is new and very fresh looking. the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was recognized for being a IHG rewards member and received a sweet treat which was nice after a long day of driving. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. The breakfast is amazing, and the cinnamon rolls are to die for- yum! The hotel is off the highway which makes for easy on and easy off- you don't have to drive through the whole town to get to the hotel. The restaurant near the hotel- Diner 54 has great food and is a good value.

Abby at the front desk is amazing! We had issues with booking, but she was with us the whole time and is so helpful and kind while getting us our room. Thanks Abby, you’re awesome!
