Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fredericksburg, an IHG Hotel

Drove 4 hours just to arrive to a roach infested room. There were roaches on the walls and creeping on the bed. I went to switch rooms and was told by the front desk that the hotel was sold out. He didn’t even come to check our room and didn’t seem to care. I’m not a picky person and would’ve made the sacrifice even if it was just one roach but it was infested. All of the hotels nearby were sold out so we had to drive another 4 hours back home. It ruined our weekend plans. I’m platinum status and got in contact with IHG. They said they would be in contact shortly. They never got back to me. We were able to get our refund but that was it. Even for a high status member, that was how we were treated. Be aware.

The balcony on room 220 has huge pieces of peeled paint lying on the floor. One chair seat cushion is ripped the entire width with stuffing hanging out. No one has been on that balcony in a very long time. Only one waste basket in the room. No signs on the first floor telling you where the lobby is. No printed TV channel list and no guide on the remote. First stay at a Holiday Inn Express and were NOT impressed. Too many handicap parking spots making this 78 and 83 year old walk needlessly far to the entrance. Breakfast was ok and employees were all friendly.

Positive: The staff were friendly and welcoming. There was another guest yelling in the hallway and 0230 and the police were onsite within minutes - staff acted quickly!Pool had LOTS of dead bugs, including very large cockroaches and other debris - YUCK!!! Negative: - bathroom needed a good mopping- the carpet was filthy - white socks were black after walking on- very unpleasant odor coming from carpet - bought carpet fresh and 2 cans of air freshener trying to mask the strong odor. We really like this hotel. Just know that prices fluctuate between seasons and days so that you don’t get sticker shock for some weekends pricing. Check the price every day. Staff is wonderful Breakfast is acceptable. Actually if specialty coffee wasn’t a hobby of mine I’d be perfectly content with their black coffee. It’s good. We like staying here. Hot shower and a non slip bathtub surface. Funny that more hotels don’t consider this excellent safety feature for clients. Extra blankets are available if needed.

The hotel was a very pleasant stay. We made the front desk aware that our mini fridge wasn’t working and a couple lights were out but that didn’t bother us. We just wanted them to be aware. ||The pool is beautiful. Due to the weather we couldn’t swim but my kids really wanted to. The complimentary breakfast was good! Nothing fancy by any means but you can tell they take pride in serving quality items. The cinnamon rolls are yummy. The turkey sausage was tasty (trust me I was skeptical). ||Overall, the hotel is in a good location and we would recommend staying there. The staff was very friendly too.
