Holiday Inn Express & Suites Barstow - Route 66 by IHG

Overall good place to stay considering have stayed here before and will probably stay again in the future. However the one main issue really is the room key cards. Way, way to sensitive and keep going bad sort a speak. Made sure that I didn't get it near anything to disable it from working. But had to go mulitiple times to get it reprogramed. Had the same issue the last time we stayed, along with a not so comfortable bed. Now on the bed issue kind of not being fare because my wife and I just got a new really awesome bed back home. The condition of this hotel is poor...not clean...and in need of a complete redo. Our bathroom tub was filthy, the floor equally so. One look at the carpet in the hotel and the grime in the elevator should have warned us. We discovered the full,length curtains cover the heat/ac unit (usually designed to be shorter in that position) and when we mentioned it to the desk clerk she assured us they were designed so we could fold them on top of the unit! Really? There was a small refrigerator on the floor because it didn't fit in the original space designed for it. The ice maker was out of order. The sofa was dirty. Breakfast offered premade omelets that had been burned, orange juice was empty, coffee was empty and a small wastebasket was overflowing and stayed that way even after a breakfast ro

I was only here for a night while passing through the area. Hotel stay was good, but the one thing I noticed that stood out for me was the next morning staff members, every one of them that I encountered was not upbeat to even greet or acknowledge their guest. I know from my working experience there are some mornings where you don't wanna smile or greet others, but working in the hospitality industry you may be required to be a bit attentive to that especially when you're the guest service personnel checking people in and out of the hotel. I encountered eight different employees that morning and from the front desk personnel, breakfast area personnel, and room service personnel, nobody had a smile on their face while I observed their team members encountering other guests to affirm it was

Very comfortable room. Breakfast was "weak" but it was a weekday so the offerings were bare minimum. There didn't seem to be many people staying because we were alone. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

The staff was very nice. This is also the first hotel we have ever stayed offering table tennis, pool, and basketball machine. It's very especially good for people like us traveling with family. I was also told that the hotel offered free diner every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The only disappointment was the breakfast was a little bit lower than average compared with other holiday inn Express.
