Holiday Inn Express Somerset, an IHG Hotel

Me, my girlfriend and her daughter stayed over the new year holiday! First I just want to say the room was spotless! The breakfast was great and the lobby was clean and decorated for the season! Overall our hotel experience was great but I’m leaving a review because the front desk assistant John made our stay stress free and easy with checking in. He was outside overnight shoveling the snow at the entrance and the weather was terrible. It stormed and snowed a lot and he made sure the entire time we stayed the loading area was clear for guests. On top of all of that he was great with her daughter as we waited for the cars to warm up and chatted with him, He was shaking the decorative presents with her and guessing what was inside them. Stayed here for one night in room 220. When we walked into the room you could smell some moisture in the air but I’ve been in many hotel rooms like that so we put the ac on and left the room. Came back a bit later and started feeling a bit sick, sore throat, headache, coughing, sneezing and runny nose. Went to sleep and when I woke up felt all those symptoms but much worse. As I was gathering our stuff to check out I saw a product called “moisturizer absorber” on top of the tall closet. Rather upsetting that somebody at the hotel knew the room had a moisture problem and decided that was the way to fix it and gave us the room. I can’t say for sure my symptoms were related to the moisture or mildew or mold in that room but I’m saying there’s a likelihood of that. The first priority of a hot

The hotel is undergoing renovation but that did not impact our stay. The room was comfy, with the quietest air/heat unit we've ever had in a hotel! The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was great with a good selection of items, including biscuits and gravy! The coffee here was delicious!

For a no frills, very clean, comfortable perfect sleep, do stay here. The staff were especially kind and followed up so personally. They listened and promptly tried to help with our any request. The whole place is very clean and basic yet immaculate. We had an excellent stay. Why overspend for a great night's sleep in comfy beds, well done HVAC, and far better than average free breakfast selections? Start to finish just everything worked out and it's obvious these people care!

Staff was nice. The floor in the room was dirty. The coffee maker was filthy. The shower head was dirty and gross. Motel is under construction which we should have been told for paying that high price. We booked it because of indoor pool. Pool was not swimmable, it was cold and filthy. We couldn't even swim. That was the main reason we booked this motel . Breakfast was the best part, and then checking out.
