Holiday Inn Express New York City Times Square by IHG

Positive: Good value for the area. The staff was top notch!! Negative: Very small room. Only two small elevators and this was a problem at peak times.

My friend and I just stayed at this hotel for our annual Broadway Show trip to NYC. It was so convenient to the theatre district, 30 Rock and Times Square. All of the hotel staff were so nice. Special shout outs to Michelle, the front desk manager and Anna for her wonderful breakfasts. This hotel offered so many unexpected perks at this price point. They had chips and bottled waters available day and night. And a cute hot chocolate and cookie bar. This was clean, safe place with really nice staff and a great value!

I’m fairly sure this place is racist.|I sent my 23 year old Guatemalan daughter to NYC with her elderly grandparents as a Christmas gift. I did not travel with them. At check in this is what happens.|1) She gets asked if her Amex is really hers by desk agent Ronald D.|2) He sends her to back of the line when card declined. Odd as she has a few thousand available credit.|3) She gets back to front. At this point I’m on phone with her. We talk he tells me she must pay FULL balance of stay upfront (that’s why her card declined). I’d already reserved the room at IHG and paid for first night to do it. Why? He has no explanation just policy. Then I say I will pay with different card. He says he will have to email the authorization. Hangs up without getting my email. Back of the line she goes agai

Good location and the front desk staff at this hotel are very accommodating and helpful. However, the interior of this hotel is in desperate need of major renovations. The first room I was given was a disaster. I found black mold in the shower, the bedside lamp didn’t work, TV didn’t work, the nightstand was missing, and the room looked like it had been trashed. I was moved to another room wear once again I found black mold in the shower. The third room was clean but is showing signs of wear. I was not offered a free upgrade or any sort of discount even though I was given two rooms with mold issues. Next, the lobby is freezing cold, I could literally see my breath in the breakfast area and all the furniture is extremely worn and stained. Visible dust in the lobby. Additionally, the panel

Location is convenient—Midtown West, about 5-10 min walk to Times Square, Broadway theaters, Penn Station, and lots of restaurants. Central enough for sightseeing, though a bit removed from the brightest lights (which can be a plus for quieter nights). Rooms were clean with comfy beds and good AC, but small and basic (typical NYC), thin walls, nothing luxurious. Service was okay—friendly front desk staff, quick check-in, but felt a bit stretched thin. Free hot breakfast was the highlight—solid variety (eggs, waffles, etc.) and usually well-stocked. Good budget pick for Times Square access—would consider again if price is right. 4 stars overall.
