Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg SW - Mechanicsburg by IHG

Warning!!!! The hotel quality is definitely not as advertised, especially for nearly $200. I’ve stayed in $80 a room hotels that were nicer. The staff working were nice and polite but geez, our rooms were not. Booked 2 rooms(3 nights), neither shower or sink would drain, mold in every crack/crevice in the shower.

We stayed at this property because hotels near my family's location were sold out or incredibly expensive (they live near Hersheypark). I don't usually pick hotels with ratings as low as this one, as found on Booking.com. Our experience confirmed that I should stick with my process. We were incredibly disappointed with our stay overall. The entire property appeared dirty and unloved/not well maintained, from a lack of cleanliness in our room and shared spaces, to simple maintenance tasks left undone. While generally Holiday Inn Expresses don't have good breakfasts, this one seemed worse because the team did not keep food options refilled or tables and containers clean. The staff seemed completely uninterested in customer service, from tone of voice to customers to ignoring staff interactio

Overall our stay was fine. We have stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels a handful of times. The gentelman working at the desk at check in was efficient & friendly. The bed was comfortable, size of room was good & decent water pressure in the shower. The room appeared clean but there was some trash (napkin & something else) in the bottom of the cabinet by the mini fridge. Breakfast was fine & the area was clean. We just wished they refilled the cinnamon rolls while we were there. We took the last 2 and they did not get refilled. Overall, not bad for the price.

This place should not be open until they get finished doing the work. The plumbing is messed up 4050-year-old carpet on the floor as soon as you walk through the door you can smell mold or this old smell they don’t clean your rooms every day maybe come in and give you a towel. I promise you it’s not worth it and I have been here for two weeks for work and everybody on my crew hates it so if I can save someone one at a time and money, please find something way more better than this because I wouldn’t settle if I had to come out of pocket for myself. They don’t have any amenities. The pool is broke. The only thing I can say they have done was painted the outside of the building, but you always gotta go in.

From start to finish my experience with this hotel was awful. The person checking us in was checking her phone during our conversation and transaction. We walked into the room to a stale smell, the walls are chipped and worn. Our cards were constantly deactivated, we were constantly going downstairs to fix them. The TV constantly disconnected from the dish. The building and rooms were worn and in bad shape, the staff was dismissive of our issues. We had reservations to stay again at the end of our vacation but cancelled. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels before and since with no to little problems.
