Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza

I thought the Hilton Cincinnati Netherlands plaza hotel was fantastic. Not only was the Art Deco interior absolutely stunning, but the service I received was outstanding. I know that the standard check-in was at 4 PM, but after speaking to an incredibly kind and gracious young woman at the front desk, she was able to arrange an early check-in. This allowed me to catch a little nap and still make it to my destination on time. I had a great experience because of the service. My room was definitely in good shape—it was clean and the bed was super comfy. The bathroom was also clean. There were a couple of free waters and a fridge. I love historic hotels and this is one of the most historic. In fact, I believe I stayed here as a teen in the 1961, when my father and I traveled from New Jersey to see the LA Dodgers play--at a time when there were no National League teams in NYC. One of the most pleasant surprises was the fitness center, which is a private health club to which guests have access. It is easily one of the best fitness centers I have ever encountered inside a hotel. The one disappointment was that the swimming pool is now closed--and apparently will never reopen.

Hotel was old but looked elegant. Once you really start looking, the age shows. It definitely needs some upgrades. The room was the worst part. Heavy draft through our windows. Base trim looked like it's been getting wet for quite some time and rotted out, pulling away from the wall. Carpet looks as old as the building. Towel holder was damaged, and just very lightly set back in place so when I went to dry my hands it fell apart and the towels dropped on the floor. Wife couldn't get the shower turned on. There was no end cap and the set screw was backed out. Handle came off. I was able to screw it back in and work it properly. Large chunks taken out of the old doors. Positive: The decor and history of the hotel was incredible. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. It was everything you would expect from the Hilton name and more. Negative: The only thing was the dust on the window treatments. It looked like it haven't been touched in a very long time.

Went for a conference, and Loved the old 1930's look when we entered. thinking qe would walk into a luxurious room, we were EXTREMELY disappointed when we got into our room ro see How ourdated, dingy and DUSTY it was. It was FILTHY, full of dust, dirt and grime. The rug was Extremely dirty, had food on it still and I definitely made sure I wasnt waling aroudn barefoot. The closet had a hige hole in ot and wires sticking! out bear the light socket. Rhe Bureau with the Tv on it was CAKED WITH DUST! And the A/C unit was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING...the filter was completely covered in Dust bimnoes, and when we turned it on, a huge cliud of dust cmae out and the smell of Old mildew was definitely present.
