Heritage Inn San Diego

I didn't know what to expect based on some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The exterior of the property is showing it's age but it has been well maintained. I was a late night check in on Feb 25, 2026. The property has free parking! I was assigned room 332; which looks as if it was recently updated. The room is basic with no frills but it was very clean; spotless even. Bed and pillows very comfortable; linen was fresh and clean. Bathroom and shower very clean with good water pressure in the shower. A/C and television worked great. Did not see any bugs or insects. Great location! Only a few miles from the beach! Great value! Had a very restful and quiet stay. Would definitely stay again!

Positive: Nothing at all Negative: Everything. The room I was given was right underneath some noisy pipes or something that kept making noise the entire time I was there it sounded like someone had a lawn mower running right outside my door. The air conditioning nor hot water worked.

San Diego is beautiful, but staying at the Heritage Inn was by far my least favorite part of the trip, and a complete ripoff! The staff was kind and I'll give them the 1 star for that. Everything else, however...||The property is extremely worn, furniture in the room was old and sparse. No lamp, just bright overheads. The walls are thin and so are the blankets. The room was cold but the HVAC gave off too unpleasant of a smell to keep running. With no hot water at times, getting ready every morning was an endurance test to brave through a cold shower and drafty room. No hair dryer either. A couple of small roaches spotted. I just stayed there last week for 3 nights and at first I was a little worried because of the reviews but I am very pleased with my stay there. They had daily housekeeping and they were very good with refreshing the rooms. I felt safe leaving my belongings and the location was just amazing. Very straight forward rules: don’t smoke or bring pets and you’ll get your deposit back. Easy

We booked this place as a packaged deal for a birthday trip. Coming from Indiana and a first time visit to California I was pretty excited. Upon arrival to the hotel the staff were very friendly. When entering the room I was surprised to find only a bed, refrigerator (which froze everything) and a small table. As a person who likes to unpack while traveling I was shocked there was not even a small dresser or metal rack to put bags on. The very first night I woke up with an extreme itching spot on my arm. I had looked over the bed upon arrival and saw there was a zippered mattress protector. I even unzipped it and checked for signs of bed bugs. Not finding anything I thought the bite was probably some sort of mosquito. By the 3rd night waking up with a bite mark and finding a roach in the b
