Hampton Inn & Suites Providence/Smithfield

AVOID! SLEEP IN YOUR CAR IF YOU HAVE TO! Parked and grabbing my stuff just as the maintenance person was turning the corner of the building coughing up a lung and doing the snort thing to clear his sinuses. Lobby smelled of over sanitization to hide some smell - but the smell was palpably dense in the room. Horrible, like rotting flesh. Stayed in the room just long enough to make another reservation at a hotel that didn't smell. I'm a Hilton Diamond member, but was not recognized as such. Had to ask for my complimentary water... I earned it with all the money I give Hilton... Other than that, front desk help was courteous, and they didn't charge me (yet). I get that these hotels are franchised, but what a black eye for the brand!

I would never recommend the Hampton Inn in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The customer service at the front desk is horrendous, rude and disrespectful Towards the customers, I watched and listened from a distance. I was there a few months ago, and I called up to find out the names of the weekend people. There was a Person name Sam there who claims to be the GM. I think Hilton better rethink who they’re putting in these hotels or they need to retrain people and the protocol of customer service think before you go to that hotel. The Holiday Inn, which is not that far from there, even though it’s not the greatest hotel, but I found the customer service was wonderful . Alex Amalfitano (GM) and his entire staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and supportive to the guests on our Wedding Room Block and our Bridal Parties. The hotel was pristine clean; the rooms were extremely reasonable, and the atmosphere was festive and appreciative of our business! 5 stars is too low a rating! This hotel deserves much higher!

Positive: The location was super convenient and quiet with gas, restaurants and set back from main roads. Negative: The carpet although somewhat new had stains on it. The bathroom molding was missing and there was rust. The sliding door on the shower was not cleaned in the track. When we got to our room, there were two hanging towels in the bathroom that looked used.

Just ok. The hotel could be cleaner, seemed a bit understaffed. If you have to stay in Smithfield for a night or two, guess it's ok but if you can, look at other towns or hotels in the area. Have stayed in other Hampton Inns that are much better, this one seemed a bit run down, especially for a hotel that is only about 10 (?) years old.
