Hampton Inn Marshall

It would have gotten 5 stars if not for the treadmill not working and the bright floodlight facing my window. Thankfully, they have shades but light still came though the edges. The hotel itself was very quiet, even though there seemed to be a lot of guests.

No problems with checkin, room was clean, parking easy to access. Close to interstate, so great for overnight stays. Only flaw was the breakfast was not up to Hampton Inn standards. The hot breakfast was breakfast ball (I assume it was scrambled eggs and other ingredients), sliced lunch sausages, and potatoes. Pastries selection was limited, best of the bunch was the blueberry scones. So coffee and cold cereal got me going for the day. I have gotten used to better breakfasts at Hampton Inns.

My wife and I are retired/semi-retired and travel extensively for pleasure. When we book a hotel, we try our best to pick a place to stay based on reviews, not price. Seldom do the reviews match the hotel experience. I never write reviews on hotels; however, as part of my personal New Year's resolution, this one will be my first. I'm tired of paying top dollar for a room and getting less than a Motel 6 accommodation experience.|My wife and I spent two nights in the Hampton Inn in Marshall. I think it is the most expensive motel in Marshall. Overall, it was a disappointing stay. My number one complaint was the beds (we had a room with two beds). Very uncomfortable. My bed was lumpy, the springs squeaked, and the sheets, pillows, and bedding were all cheap, worn out, and uncomfortable.

The only complaint about this stay is that I reserved two rooms and when we checked in after 3 pm, one of the rooms were not ready. This was very disappointing. I've never had this happen before. The room had not been touched at all. And it was my guest that walked into the unclean room. My room was good. That made us have to change rooms and were no longer next to each other but further down the hall. The staff was apologetic.

Wonderful stay! Well maintained property and extremely nice staff. The breakfast was hot with a variety of choices. The rooms are comfortable, well lit and up to date. We will stay again!
