Hampton Inn Manhattan-Chelsea

The location is excellent, walking distance to the train station and major sights and close to many subway lines. The room was pretty spacious compared to what you normally find in Manhattan and actually had a clear view out the window (i.e., not right next to another building). It had a safe and a large TV and plenty of hot water. The room was a little worn but the bathroom looked like it had been updated more recently. Breakfast was ok, a good amount of hot and cold food. Good value for money.

I had such a wonderful stay at this hotel in New York. The location was absolutely perfect—right near the subway station, which made getting around the city so easy. The room was very clean and comfortable, and I really appreciated being able to adjust the temperature easily when it got cold—the room warmed up quickly and stayed cozy. What truly made this stay special was the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. They surprised my daughter by decorating the room for her birthday with candies and a beautiful card, which meant so much to us and made her birthday extra special. Even after our stay, they took the time to email me with such a heartfelt message—it really shows how much they care about their guests. Yes this hotel is old. But the location is hard to beat for the price. You’re minutes from the F train and walking distance to many great options for dinner. It’s 15 minutes to anything you want to see in the city. Showers are nice and warm. Only 8 rooms per floor so 2 elevators are only needed. It is clean, staff is attentive - it just isn’t new. Sheets were good. Bed was comfy. Pillows good and very quiet for NYC. Also the room had a nice desk for working - not common in this price range. I’d stay again. They do a great job. I did not say 5 stars because it is not a fancy place. At this price if you don’t like the “cheap” breakfast you can walk around the corner to a French place, bagels or many coffeehouses

Location is excellent—right in Chelsea on 6th Ave, easy walk to High Line, Chelsea Market, Hudson Yards, great restaurants, and subway lines (1/2/3/A/C/E/F/M). Super convenient for exploring Manhattan without being in tourist overload. Rooms were outstanding: very clean, modern, super comfy beds, good workspace, quiet, and spacious for NYC. Loved the blackout curtains and fresh feel. Service was top-notch—warm, helpful staff at front desk, quick check-in, and free hot breakfast was a big win (fresh eggs, waffles, coffee—kept stocked and tasty). Fantastic value and comfort in a great neighborhood—would stay again in a heartbeat! 5 stars.

During my stay, I requested a replacement room key after briefly stepping out without it. I fully understand and respect hotel security procedures, and I was prepared to provide my photo ID to verify my identity. Guest safety is important. However, the interaction with front desk staff member Kim was highly unprofessional. There was no reassurance, no effort to communicate that the situation was manageable, and no attempt to guide the process constructively. Instead, my ID was examined in a manner that felt more like scrutiny than standard verification. For context, I interacted with two other front desk staff members the day before, and they were courteous and professional.
