Hampton Inn Americus

I’m a longtime Hilton Honors member and stay almost exclusively at Hilton properties. I want to be very clear about why I left early: I found two roaches in my room. Beyond the pest issue, the condition of this hotel is unacceptable for a Hilton-branded property. Fixtures were literally falling apart. Soap and shampoo dispensers were just haphazardly placed on the counter. The elevator buttons were taped onto the panel. The main roadside sign was burned out when I arrived, which made the property difficult to even locate at night. The room itself showed obvious signs of aging: stains on the carpets and walls, and hair in the bed that was absolutely not mine (I stayed alone). The bathroom sink had hair in it and would not drain properly because the sink plug was stuck. ||The refrigerator was unplugged and was very difficult to reach the outlet to fix it.||There were several events in town, including a large rodeo, so my one night stay was $200. For $180, you can stay at The Windsor Hotel.

I’ve stayed here several times over the past few years. Everyone was really nice. Rooms were clean. Only complaint about this visit was that I booked a king room and when I got there it had been changed to a queen room. They told me there was a booking error and the king room was already taken when I booked (over the phone). A phone call would have been nice prior to my arrival, just in case I wanted to cancel. But they were very apologetic about the change and had given me one of the larger queen rooms.

Positive: Staff was excellent. Negative: For a Hampton and the price vs other hotels in the area, it's a bit worn out. Not a lot of places to choose from in Americus.

We stayed 1 night at this hotel. First of all the young lady at check in was extremely nice. Then we got in our room and it smelled of marijuana. After arriving in the room the smoke detector battery was beeping. We were able to get a 9 volt battery to replace the dead one. The sweet girl at front desk had to dig in the drawer of a desk to find another 9 volt. Since maintenance had gone home for the day we replaced the battery ourselves. Little did we know that battery didn’t last and at 5:00 AM the detector started going off and woke us up. The carpet was filthy in our room. Hoping to watch college football our tv wasn’t working and was without signal. The nice front desk lady came and straightened it out so we could use the tv.
