I liked the campground and was there for 2 nights. RV spots were flat and has full hookups. Gretchen greeted me as a late arrival and was very nice, taking me to the assigned site and answered a few questions. The campground is very quiet. Just a heads up for campers and a suggestion for staff - the entrance could use some poles with reflectors to highlight the driveway entrance from the main road. US 280 is very dark and though the KOA sign is lit up fine the driveway entrance boundaries could use some defining.
The Americus KOA Journey was our 201st stop and we stayed for 4 nights. The park is 20 miles west of I75 but we were using it as a base to visit the Andersonville National Historic Site and the National Prisoner of War Museum. The road coming in had quite a few potholes at the time of this writing so you should pay a bit more attention (and pretty dusty). Just before you get to the park, we were met by the camp host and taken to the site first and then to the office to get information (great info packet) and pay off the balance. The camp hosts were super nice. And was told a free round of golf with the stay - did not do it but the course looked nice. The transient spots (primarily row A) do not have shade. Be careful with this particular KOA .. especially when booking a stay during tricky weather in the south. They will NOT allow adjustments within 7 days and will take your money. Mind you every other KOA I have dealt with has been very good and accommodating - but not this one. Very unKOA. Because we have found that 99% of KOA's through out this country are helpful and understanding.
The best campground we've ever been to: clean, organized, stunning scenery, exceptional customer service, fair price, and a variety of activities available in the same park. Perfect for vacations or extended stays. 100% recommended!
Big property with lots to do and wide open spaces for walking our dogs. Clean. Friendly hosts. Will definitely go back.
