GreenTree Inn San Diego Mission Bay

Stayed at the Green Tree Inn in San Diego. It technically worked, but this is very much a location-only hotel. The good: clean sheets, no bedbugs, free breakfast, and a shower that gets aggressively hot. The coffee was actually decent, which deserves a small round of applause. The not-so-good: the place feels old and kind of dirty for the price. The room was tiny—or maybe just stuffed with way too much furniture. If you’re used to Japanese or European hotel rooms, you might call it spacious. Everyone else will not. We also had a 3–4 hour water shutoff due to an emergency (thankfully midday), and the key cards kept demagnetizing, requiring multiple trips for replacements. Bonus points for the mystery vomit or food spill in the elevator that hung out for a few hours. Delightful. Check-in

First time staying here with new ownership. Overall very similar to when it was Holiday Inn Express. Property is older and could use an upgrade but we choose this location over and over as its close to where we visit in San Diego and a good value for the price. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. Free parking and they do have a few options for breakfast each AM.

Our stay wasn’t bad, but some simple fixes would have made it so much better. The carpet is #1. It smells BAD. Mostly in the hallways, but in the room too. Smells like cat pee in the hallways. The bathtub had been spackled to the point of ridiculousness - just replace the damn thing when it gets that bad! The toilet was made for tiny people and barely flushed. And the towels were made for tiny people as well. ||||The breakfast was good, the people were nice, the stay was quiet. If the owners can make some simple upgrades, it could be great.

Positive: The beds were super comfortable, the size of the room was great! I appreciated a large bathroom counter too! Good coffee in the room and the breakfast was good- lots of options that changed throughout the morning. Negative: Wish the pool was bigger but it was totally fine !

The overall vibe of the place is just so grim. The hotel from the lobby to the hallway, rooms and colour scheme are very outdated. There is a weird smell all over the place. The lobby was unusually hot which makes you want to get the hell out of there. I think the hotel was trying to tell us something. While the room looked clean enough, the rest of the hotel gave me a sense of ick that I couldn't shake. Keep expectations low, like extremely low. But you still might end up disappointed.
