Grand Mesa Nordic Council

GMNC maintains over 50k of trails on the Grand Mesa. Regular grooming in the winter and trail repairs and maintenance in the summer keep these trails in great shape. They cover Skyway, County Line, and Ward Lake for skiers at all levels. Dogs are welcome at County Line. There is a warming hit at Skyway. This is a volunteer organization that works closely with the Forest Service.

Why anyone would rate this place below a four is beyond me. This place is a true gem! There are few place like this and the skating is superb. Plus much gratitude to all those who hep make it happen.

Not sure what to put, so it's the average of two ratings. 5 stars: A nostalgia filled return to GMNC's roots when I was a kid, and the grooming was done by volunteers on snowmobiles. 1 star: A visiting Norwegian relative said, "The kindergarten I work at has better grooming."

Simply an amazing, world-class, one of a kind ski trail network! And they offer lessons and races! There's a little something for everyone!

3 or 4 years ago, the grooming was great. Today, the grooming is hit or miss, mostly miss. The best skiing days today were average days 3 or 4 years ago. The bad days today are a tour in the powder. If you actually want to kick and GLIDE or skate, it's a 50/50 guess if it's doable with the present grooming.
