My family and I have been visiting the Grand every year for over 30 years. Yes, the grounds are beautiful and the service is usually good and the rooms are nice. However, we have seen the hotel become increasingly less than 1st class. It has a very hurried atmosphere now and the staff are not as friendly. They rush around and seem to try to hurry you up. The breakfast buffet, while still good, has gone way down. You are now greeted with powdered eggs and institutional bacon. My advice is to always have the omelet. The tables no longer have white tablecloths and the servers are dressed like in a Waffle House. You might as well be at a Hampton Inn. You are not paying Hampton Inn prices, however. Go to the Opryland Hotel which is also a Marriott property if you want a beauti

I don’t write negative reviews. It’s simply not my nature to try and hurt a business, especially one with as much history and meaning to a community as the Grand Hotel. That said, this is a venerable institution in these parts, and it deserves better service than what we experienced. The Grand Hotel is now part of a larger corporate entity, and unfortunately you can feel that shift. There’s a noticeable lack of ownership and pride from the staff. This was not a five-star experience. There was no one to help with bags, no guidance to our room, and very little staff presence overall to help orient guests or make you feel truly welcomed on such a large property. What a beautiful and historic property! From the moment we arrived, the grounds were stunning — huge oak trees, brick pathways, and the perfect blend of Southern charm and coastal relaxation. We loved exploring the gardens and walking down to the bay. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The peaceful waterfront views, complete with swings and a putting green by the water, made it feel like the ultimate getaway. Lunch and cocktails overlooking the bay were perfect — everything beautifully presented and delicious. We also enjoyed the thoughtful touches of history throughout the property, including the statues and tributes that remind you this place has a story to tell. In a world of cold, industrial aesthetics and influencer selfies, The Grand is a warm embrace. The resort has an updated, but old school vibe of 1950s lodge in an upscale and charming capacity. The staff are incredibly friendly, the food is excellent, the amenities are fantastic, the location is perfect, the grounds are beautiful, and the resort wildlife makes the stay even better. This is the perfect getaway.

We planned a last minute weekend getaway before going back to school. We had difficulty finding something at the beach, but wanted to be on the water so we decided to try The Grande. We were truly blown away. The service from every staff member was exceptional. The activities are plentiful. The pools are great - lots of time spent on the slide at the family pool! The spa is lovely. The food is fantastic. Our whole family had a wonderful time and we will be back, without a doubt.
