GLAT Austin

We booked for 3 nights, Dec. 21 to Dec. 24, Cabin#2 - Magnolia. We were so excited because the advertising was really good. Our entire family was looking forward to spending our Christmas holidays there - hoping to disconnect from the digital world. This was advertised as glamping. So, I was expecting some semblance of cleanliness but with camping amenities. However, when we arrived there, first thing we noticed were the ridiculous number of dead bugs (gnats) on the pillows and bed sheets. There were so many, they looked like sand on the sheets. We tolerated that and chalked it up to be part of "Camping" even though it was clearly advertised as Glamping. We were patient about that. This was a nice close to home get away for a couple of days. The place was comfortable to catch up on some sleep with the very cozy bed. The community was quiet during sleeping hours and the lake was a very nice view. It was fun to hear the Boy Scouts across the lake singing their chants when the sun went down. You could just hear the fun everyone was having and good vibes all around you. Overall this was a great experience and we did let the owners know about a few small improvements to the cabin. Just a few simple fixes to not get worked up over to help them improve their customer experience and they were appreciative of the feedback. One thing to keep in mind is this lake is not the best summer lake to cool down in as it is a cooling reservoir for the power plant. The water is fine and

My husband and I haven’t been able to honeymoon since we got married in January so this was a perfect little minimoon/staycation/getaway for us! We stayed in Cabin #2 and really enjoyed it! Our pups were huge fans, too. We got to sit out in the hot tub and enjoy how nice and quiet it was and we loved checking out Bastrop since we had never been! The bed was comfortable and it had a great shower and running water!||The only couple of things that we noted we wish were “better” was the lake itself was HOT! It’s a cooling reservoir for the nearby power plant so we weren’t able to actually enjoy the water and with a Texas summer cold water = best scenario. Super GLAMPING vacation spot - comfy beds, firepits for smores, peaceful dock on the lake for excellent views of the stars and sunrise! Overall wonderful experience and definite one to repeat. We stayed in Cabin1 and Tent3 - both were perfect. Tent had bunk beds that kids turned into a fort. Cabin had bathroom and shower for convenience. Bastrop downtown is full of energy for great entertainment as well.
