Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center

I stayed at the Gaylord resort in Orlando over the past weekend. The hotel grounds are nice and well maintained. That’s where the positives end. The rooms were a major letdown. Our room did not have blackout curtains, even though it was an exterior-facing room. We went to sleep in darkness and woke up to blinding sunlight. This was not minor light bleed. It felt like the lights were turned on. For a resort at this price point, blackout curtains should be standard, especially for families with infants. The second issue was construction noise early in the morning. There was no notice at check-in. No sign on the door. No heads-up at all. We were woken up by loud construction with our infant, which completely ruined the morning. What made this worse was the response, or lack of one. No apol

I’m here with my husband and 4 month old baby (he’s here for a convention) so I’m spending a lot of time alone. The waterfalls & jungle-esq vibes are beautiful & very entertaining for us. I’m writing this review because I’m sooo impressed with the room service. The food is amazing (I’ve had the salmon & power breakfast bowl, cocktails, dessert, etc) and the service is incredible. Every order comes to the room within 30 minutes, perfectly packaged & has everything you might need. I’ve often left a note for them to leave it outside the door when the baby is sleeping and they do so very quietly. There’s also a lot of fun things to do inside the resort (waterslides, reptiles, jungle exploring) I can’t wait to come back when my kids are older. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We stayed 4 nights between Christmas and New Year’s. Rooms were very expensive, facilities were over crowded and under staffed. Rooms were not ready until several hours after check in-time of 4 pm, staff misled many guests, communication between departments was poor. Concierge advised not to make a reservation at the buffet but when we arrived at the buffet was told reservations were required through open table with a credit card guarantee despite there being no wait. We literally had to step aside, make the reservation with credit card guarantee to be seated. Pool attendant advised only one towel per person despite there being many towels and loungers available. Positive: The inside area was very nice, and the landscape was also very nice with the water falls and wildlife. Negative: We had to call maintenance 3 times during our trip to fix things in our room. We were told all hotel restaurants were only taking reservations for over night guests. That was not true, The site was down all 4 days and know one knew the hours.

Our experience as first timers at this resort was absolutely perfect! We arrived very late due to a car accident on our way to the resort and the resort employee we first spoke to on the phone to tell we would be late was so sweet. He went above and beyond for us making a stressful situation feel better for sure. Upon arrival the lobby is stunning, the front desk staff on duty again so sweet and extremely accommodating. We woke up and had the buffet breakfast, highly recommend!! It was delicious, everything you could want and so fresh. Staff super sweet again and accommodating! Our server told us everything about the resort in fine detail having worked there over 20 plus years he said. Then off to the resort pool.
