Orange Lake Resort River Island

This is my favorite place to visit in Florida. There are hundreds of acres of Wildlife Preserve land, natural lakes and streams, adjacent to resort villages and world-class golf courses and amenities. The lush landscaping and year-round color and walking paths are beyond compare. Every gorgeous pool in every village is heated. Waterfalls, and a heated lazy river are surrounded with lush palm trees and amazing colorful plants and flowers so that one feels like they are traveling down an immaculate jungle river. Every inch of the golf courses and villa yards are are well-manicured. The interiors are 5-star professionally decorated. No details are left out. Customer service and housekeeping are the ultimate. The entire grounds are maintained with the same standards as the gardens at Epcot.

We have been visiting for years. We love the pools for our kids and the proximity to Disney. Our condos have always been clean, stocked, and nice. When we go at Christmas/New Year's the Entertainment Staff always have fun activities for people at the pool to participate in (Bingo & corn hole mostly). I wish the prizes at the arcade weren't just cheap plastic dollar store toys for the amount of money it costs to play. But the updated arcade at the west village is very cool.

Great resort, great vacation, great staff— the resort is HUGE and the shuttles should be more frequent (my only complaint) but my family had a car so it was a non issue for us specifically. Also kinda crazy you have to pay separately for a tube for the lazy river lol. And no ice machines in the building we stayed in- which is weird for Florida. Overall, we had an amazing stay!

My son's Meme took us here for a family getaway. Pools were nice. The three bedroom ground level condo we stayed in was great. We had plenty of room and very nice view. The basketball courts were nice and secure. Great Place!! Meme had a little trouble with some of the info given to her, but they sorted it out and gave her a gift card for her trouble.

Good basic hotel with water features that are fantastic for kids. Rooms are large and basically furnished enough. Most of the rooms are pretty dated and worn. Everything is quite basic but relatively clean (except the carpets which are disgusting and clearly never cleaned). The buildings have VERY thin walls and VERY thin floors with metallic substrates- you can hear other guests clearly through the walls and ceilings. Every step and pitter-patter creaks and rings the ceiling (this is a resort geared towards families) - so expect to hear everyone and everything. The concept of Orange Lake is great, their legacy was great. They're just let down by their corporate greed.
