Fort Superior Campground

I’m not one to take the time to leave reviews, but I couldn’t help it, I had to. After only one visit I can say this is my favorite campground of all time, HANDS DOWN. Jennifer and her family are so friendly and accommodating. Most of the sites are surrounded by trees and offer privacy between them. Our stay was over the weekend of October 3-5 and the fall colors were incredible!! I was surprised, to say the least, to find vacancy at this campground. The view from the top off the hill is breathtaking and incudes a common area with bench seating, specifically for views of the northern lights. There is no power or running water, however, the vaulted toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen and the water pumps are conveniently located central to most sites, easy to pump. We were tent camping the Lake Superior Circle Tour and found this place on a fluke and we're so glad we did! Jennifer, the owner, along with her husband and family, were gracious and so helpful when we made our reservation and upon arrival. Each of the spacious 25 tent sites has it's own unique personality, and Jennifer helped match us with the best one for our needs. Some sites are heavily wooded, others are open up on the bluff overlooking Lake Superior, with still others "in between". ||||The property is located far off the highway, minimizing noise. There is an upper and a lower level, with VERY clean pit toilets on the upper level only. Be aware that there are no showers at this time. Stayed in site 33. Beautiful site. The overlook of the lake and islands was phenomenal. Adam, the owner stopped to visit every day. He willingly told us the history and shared stories. The grounds were well maintained. The bathrooms were some of the cleanest outdoor facilities I’ve ever seen. Will definitely be back. Mark, Green Bay WI

Campsites were gorgeous! We stayed at site 34 for the weekend, had a large and lovely set up big enough for a 3 person tent, a hammock, pop up changing room, and still had lots of space. We had visitors like a chipmunk and toad. Got to hear owls, see eagles, and it was just far enough away from the road that you could barely hear a thing. Bathrooms were close by and well maintained for outhouses, there was a potable water source nearby, and the owners were extremely kind. The site is located next to a town with tons of local shops and food places with amazing food and great service. I would absolutely stay there again, just know that if they say you need 4 wheel drive, they mean it!

Yo, this place is top freaking notch. Love rustic camping and this checks the boxes. Far from any road so it is very quiet and it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. They have THE CLEANEST RUSTIC CAMP TOILETS I HAVE EVER SEEN and literally no bad smells in there. campsites are beautiful, well spaced for privacy, lots of room, picnic tables, fire ring, and a lantern hook. Common area has an amazing view. Firewood for sale on site. Camp host was very friendly. 10/10. After staying at a really crappy campground the night before, this felt like a breath of fresh air. Camp here. We stayed at site 34 I think.
