We have stayed at this campground twice, and I would recommend it to everyone. The bath houses are very clean and offer ample privacy with electrical outlets for connecting hairdryers, etc. The area is beautiful and the campground is very well maintained with trash pick up multiple times each day. In addition to all of the amenities offered, the owners are beyond accommodating, overflowing with kindness. If you are looking for a campground in the Floyd, VA, area, you need look no further than KOA/Floyd Family Campground!
The hills and maze of a road for miles to get there were awful. Lots of full time living there. No lights anywhere so you can't see a thing at night. Was definitely NOT comfortable there at all. Thankfully we were only there overnight!
We were spending time in Blacksburg so just a bit of drive thus the 4/5 - rating was with regard to our specific plans. That said, great and comfortable. Don't forget your towels and sheets (which we brought along). Staff check-in/ out was super. Very much appreciated the check-ins before via email. Highly suggest as a way to get away.
This is a nice-looking campground and we would have planned to stay here again in the future (for our yearly family gatherings in the area); however, our second visit (mid-July, 2025) to the Floyd Family Campground was not as pleasant as our first visit, in June of last year. Because our RV's shower stall is super tiny, we usually take our showers in the campground bath houses (if they're available). There are two bath houses at the Floyd Family Campground. I don't know if the one on the other side of the campground is in better shape than the one that was closest to where our RV was parked, but the bath house I tried to use (the women's side of the bath house) wreaked of a very strong mildew smell. The smell caused my sinuses to swell and my head to hurt, so I left the bathroom as quickly
I used to love staying at KOAs when I was a kid, but this was my first visit in years and it was disappointing to see how much things have changed. There was no water available for tent campers, and the bathrooms and showers were dirty and falling apart and WiFi didn’t work
