Fireside Lodge

Positive: We liked the fireplace. Negative: I did not like that there was no one at the office when we arrived. The bathroom tub drain did not drain well and there was a strange piece of furniture surrounding the sink that did not fit.

I've been a loyal customer at Fireside Lodge for 6 years now. My wife and I try to make it every year for Christmas. We love the owner and the staff. Great people and extremely accommodating to any needs we have. It's really a family owned business, and unlike the major corporations or chains, they actually have a good reppor and relationship with their customers. Location is great, just a quick 5 minute walk to the main Village. They have lake views and great jacuzzi/fireplaces in room. Overall, this place is really cozy and down to earth. I have zero complaints and have never regretted staying here for the Christmas holiday. THANKS GUYS!

Pros: |-The staff let us check in an hour early. |-the curtains kept pretty much all the light out at night. ||Cons:|-room was VERY small. |-we couldn’t find the primer for the fireplace; we called the staff, they gave us generic instructions, said they would send someone up to help it in a bit, but no one came. |-all night long, we heard what sounded like water dripping from the ceiling. |-this one’s from my wife: the bed was NOT comfortable. |-this is a minor one, but kinda irked me: the coffee machine had coffee, sugar, cream, cups, but no spoon or stirrer.

I stay here every time I come to Big Bear and have since their previous ownership. The staff are nice. The location is very convenient. The rooms are spacious (always book the suites). The beds always feel clean. The fireplaces are a beautiful touch. And as a child of the 90s I love the decor and really, really hope they never remodel (including the bears painted on the doors). This place has the CHARM and kitsch that we love in Big Bear and keeps me coming back.

Room was clean and felt enjoyable to relax in. Stayed one night with my wife and daughter in the simple two queen room. Loved the old looking, but still modern, microwave. The bed was decently soft too, though the side I slept on sort of sagged in the middle, which did cause me some back stiffness in the middle of the night. However, overall i slept well. My wife and daughter had no issues. My only real problem was when trying to check in at the 4pm time, no one was at the front office, and it was locked. Called the number on the door, and the owner said he was on his way back after dealing with some issue at another property. When he arrived about 25 minutes later, he said his wife, who helps run the place, was on vacation and it was just him operating both properties. To me, that wasn't
