The Hotel Finlen is one of Butte’s most historic and iconic buildings, opening its doors on January 1, 1924. It was commissioned by James Finlen, the son of Irish immigrant and mining pioneer Miles Finlen, and constructed as a grand, nine-story hotel inspired by New York City’s famous Hotel Astor. Designed in the French Second Empire style by architects Shanley and Baker. Throughout the 20th century, the Finlen became a cultural and social center in Butte, hosting presidents, notable figures, and celebrities; guests included Charles Lindbergh, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Richard Nixon at various times. The hotel has maintained many of its original features. Beautiful Ballroom and lobby. I recommend staying in the main hotel to enjoy the architectural features and atmosphere. Par

I love old hotels. The Finlen has remodeled but still retains some of the old charm.|It was very clean and the staff friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were the '50s pink tile and was immaculate. There was a wedding going on the main floor and it looked like a nice party. I stayed on the 3rd floor. It feels like the upper floors haven't yet been remodeled and are inaccessible. The A/C unit is an add on but to be expected in a 1923 building. It was a liitle loud for me but I cooled the room down and I shut it off to sleep. No automtic door closer so no slamming doors to be heard in the hallway! The door key was just that and not an electronic card !

The coolest historical hotel I've ever stayed at! Amazing views clean nice and gorgeous lobby. It may have some spirits I can't explain in some rooms but they are welcoming (never thought I'd say that) absolutely love this place for a true Butte experience it's a great place to stay!!!! I recommend staying in the mai. Hotel not the motor lodge for the experience! Recommend 10 out of 10

Positive: Convenient location, cool history, really neat bar. Interesting people and staff were incredibly helpful. Negative: It's a historical building, so it's a bit "rustic" in places, but this adds to the charm. It just doesn't always "look" as clean but that's to be expected. I would add that it seems a bit overpriced, especially since there was no continental breakfast.

This is an old beautiful hotel but rooms are sadly in need of major updates. Few plugs. No bathroom fans. Rug stained. Stay here if you like being in an old historic hotel and willing to pay a higher price for poor quality room. Sadly there is likely insufficient funds to bring this hotel up to modern standards.
