I haven't camped here yet, I grew up in Butte but never came. It's beautiful and quiet. I plan to try it out next year. It's about 10 miles back there but it's all good dirt road!
It's a beautiful locations, unfortunately campers and other people have been regularly littering, and dumping on-site, it's pretty normal to see trash everywhere in proximity to the camping area. I'm local and I don't like how much trash and general litter I see around.
Didn't stay at the canoeing but went swimming there! Camped in a free spot and it was amazing. Rode atvs and there's a lot of hidden gems to find. There's the ringing rocks, old abandoned cabins and mines, and free roaming cows! Loved it
It is a beautiful drive up to the lake. The roads are not too rough. Lots of places to camp/RV bbq or explore the trails. The lake itself also has picnic and camping areas as well as a boat dock.
We do a dirt bike and trip here once a year the campgrounds are nice and the dirt biking is excellent
