Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Kennett Square Brandywine Valley

We stayed here while in town for a funeral. I am not the type to write reviews, but enough was off for me to be compelled to do so. My daughter’s room (adjoining) had a bug in the bed and no heat, so she was thankfully relocated. A fire alarm went off in the middle of the night due to kitchen smoke (evacuation in 7° weather would have been brutal). Then our room had no hot water for showers in the morning. Everyone was friendly and professional, but it was enough that we would not stay here again. We are Marriott Gold Elite members so we choose to stay at Marriotts due to consistency of stays. This one did not measure up.

Very accommodating and helpful staff. We arrived midday of our stay prior to check in on a Saturday in late September 2025. Our request to check in early to dress for 3PM wedding was done in a friendly and helpful manner. Tara, the front desk associate went above and beyond and is to be commended ofr her fine service. Our room was clean, well furnished and quiet. Breakfast generous and free as part of reservation. Location a bit tricky to get to when arriving from the north or east- just follow your Google Maps!

We chose this hotel to stay at while going to Longwood Gardens for the seasonal lights show at night. The exterior of the hotel seemed well maintained and the lobby was inviting, with a small gas fireplace going.|Kevin and Tara were both helpful in making sure we got a quiet room and Yuliana from housekeeping made sure our feather free request was granted. We were given room 404, which is a 1 bedroom, 2-room suite that has a living room and sofa bed separated by doors. It was fairly quiet and faced the parking lot, although we could hear the neighbors in Room 402 speaking loudly.|The room was clean and passed my Swiffer test, even the top of the mini-fridge and televisions. Spent 3 nights here for 2 days of Longwood Gardens visit. To us the location is good and easy to access the garden. Staff are friendly, 1F common area is clean and pleasant, breakfast (included) staff was diligent and never left any container empty..... definitely 5 star to the staff. Well, here's the "however" part - my bed had a crowded NYC subway train kind of body odor. Felt like a Karen but I still apologetically brought up the problem to the front desk staff, and she was very nice to help to ask the housekeeping to change my bedding, but the odor was still there after their busy working. Never had this kind of experience with any hotel; after digging up a bit, I found the odor was from the bed itself - the mattress was so ancient even fresh linen was not able to cover the smell.

This hotel was fine for a 2 night stay. Our room was on the highway side so plan on using an app for background noise to sleep. Pillows are very hard so bring your own. Otherwise no complaints.
