Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Cordele

Incredibly disappointed. As a titanium Marriott member, I stay over 100 nights a year in Marriott hotels. We stayed here on our way south for a family vacation. We specifically chose this hotel because it is the only hotel in a 50+ mile radius with an indoor pool. A week prior to the stay, we called and confirmed this and confirmed the pool was open. Upon arriving, the pool was closed. When asking the desk clerk why it was closed, she wasn't sure, but said, "its been closed for quite some time." She was very nice while delivering the bad news, and said she was told, "the heater was broken so it was closed." Nice staff who are kind and helpful. Both the night clerk, morning manager and housekeeping staff were attentive and pleasant. The room is very dated but clean. I expected a little more amenities for the $150 they charged but it seemed better than what was nearby. Three isn’t a bad score, it’s an average score, which is what this facility is. Again, friendly staff.

This is definitely the "budget" end of Marriott brands. This hotel, in a weird location literally abutting the I-75 ramp, had a lot of road noise. The hot water took a bit of time to get hot. You would wonder if the room was really cleaned, as the toilet had obviously not had any bowl cleaning in recent times. Bed seemed to be tilted, closet door was off kilter, and pillows were uncomfortable. Not a pleasant stay.

The staff was very friendly and efficient. The bathroom/shower in room 130 was disgusting. Someone had smeared black shmoo all over the interior curtain and there were remnants on the tub and walls. Sheets were clean but had stains. Wall thermostat didn't work. Breakfast was really nasty. They only had powdered eggs and sausage so somebody is cheap. The powdered eggs hadn't been stirred and water was standing in the center. At 8:30 it looked like nobody had touched them. Denny's was great. For $170 a night, I wish the Hampton inn had not been full.

Positive: The staff was amazing. They were very friendly and went way about and beyond to make you feel welcome. Location was great also. Negative: Time to remodel or remove the Marriott flag. This hotel is cashing in on being part of the Marriott brand, yet it definitely doesn't meet Marriotts standard.
