Extended Stay America Suites- Providence

The location of this hotel is not the best. RIight off the freeway and surrounded by panhandlers, guests can expect to see alot of sketchy figures. As my partner and I approach the front door of the hotel, immediately two men are standing right out front. One had an open beer in his hand and the other smoking cigarette. They were polite, but it made the place feel more like a hang out than a business. Come to find out, this hotel doubles as a homeless shelter ..go figure 🙄. That should have definitely been stated in the description. With damaged furniture and dirty looking walls, it made sense that this place served the homeless. Positive: The parking lot and front desk staff Negative: The room was stinking, the floor was dirty and dust. The worst part is that they allow dogs in the hotel, everyone does not do well with dogs around where they eat and sleep. I like animals but I think they are for private homes and not public hotels.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The elevator has a strange smell and clearly needs cleaning. In the pictures below you can see what the breakfast buffet looks like at 8:15am. Not sure one can call this breakfast. Also in the other picture you can see the welcome sight of the armchair in my room. I am not sure if would sit in it. The price for this location is not low, it is on par with real hotels in the area.

I received a call from a staff member who did not provide her name informing me that my reservation was being canceled due to staffing shortages for cleaning rooms. I had booked months in advance through Expedia for my daughter’s Nationals competition. The call came an hour after check-in time, while I was already 2.5 hours into a 3.5 hour drive and approximately one hour away from the hotel. I was transferred to the manager, Cody (who declined to provide his last name). When I explained how far we had already traveled and asked how this could happen to guests actively en route, I was told I would need to “book somewhere else.” The response was dismissive and lacked any real effort to resolve the situation. At one point, I was told that if I did not “stop yelling,” the call would be ended

To start they did not have the room I had booked. The hallway smelled like weed and urine. There were no cabinet doors on the cabinets, no drawers no blankets on the beds. We had to ask for blankets and had to pick them up at the front desk they weren’t even folded and had pieces of hair weave stuck to them. And for breakfast, there was no breakfast provided for the guest. Will never ever stay at one of these hotels. Terrible!
