El Portal Sedona Hotel

Loved this place! Shelly and Terri were terrific, the room (#11) we stayed in, had an amazing deck overlooking the courtyard. The birds were just coming out from winter months and they’re singing was remarkable really. Location is outstanding as it’s close to great shopping and restaurants. We love the honor system, the staff, the housekeeping team, in the campfire each night in the courtyard. What a wonderful place!

Unfortunately not what we expected. The room we stayed in was a bit worn out, towels and blankets were old and worn and it needed a paint job. Our view was a parking lot full of UHaul trucks. I booked 4 days before our arrival and I couldn’t find a confirmation. I called and the lady told me I was confirmed but I could look at the available rooms when I arrived. I looked on the website and the prices were $159 LESS then when I booked. That was so disappointing. If it was $50 I probably wouldn’t have been offended. |When we arrived I was told all the other rooms were on “hold”! Complimentary snacks were nice but, the place really needs a refresh and they shouldn’t adjust the rate by almost 50% ever. It really left me feeling offended.

We discovered this charming gem over 6 years ago and it alone is enough to summon our yearly return to Sedona ever since! The hotel is a historic, functioning landmark, reflecting the way travel used to be. So many interesting displays and paintings, and a snack room offering coffee, teas, juice bottled water and many snacks 24 hours daily! Every room is embracing, charming and comfortable. The main lobby has a huge fireplace and on the walls hang unique, beautiful oil portraits collected from around the world. The center courtyard has a large fire pit, comfortable chairs and a variety of climbing plants and flowers. Enjoyed everything about our stay. Beautiful building with unique rooms that immediately make you feel at home & relaxed. Nice touches like an air jet tub right next to the stone tile shower, dual sinks, a desk, comfy couch, fireplace, private patio and more. Really appreciated being able to get up in the morning and get a fresh cup of coffee to start the day. Plus, well stocked food & beverage area for use while on-site or grabbing some snacks for hiking. We have our eyes on one or two of the other rooms that looked equally inviting. All in all a great place and great location.

Charming inn with thoughtful/lovely decor and art throughout and lovely common space in the courtyard to read or sit by the fire. Room (6) was large and comfortable. Location is perfect; easy walk to cafe/shopping/restaurants, and nice to have access to the resort next door for gym and exercise classes Service was thoughtful and SO caring; Fran was the best, checking in on us as our booking was complicated Cannot wait to return.
