We stayed at the East Harlem Hostel for four nights. The location was great and we could quickly reach the city centre by underground. The rooms are minimalistic, but perfectly adequate for a city break. The staff responded quickly and were very helpful. If you have a room facing the street, it can get a bit noisy – it's best to pack some earplugs.

I stayed in one of the private rooms. It was clean, comfortable, and they thought of everything. Very impressive for a hostel. I would absolutely stay again. I was able to park easily right around the corner and felt safe the entire time. If you have any issues or concerns, the staff will text you back immediately and handle it immediately. I highly recommend this establishment.

Harlem gets a bad reputation but honestly I felt more safe then in certain European cities, the facilities are minimalistic and you stay will be comfortable, the hotel staff is very responsive I got stuck in a limbo once when I couldn’t remember the code to enter my room and they assisted me promptly. Some people won’t like the location but honestly It’s a safe area within walking distance of Central Park and the subway is around the corner along side with some good South American restaurants and coffee shops.

I had a private room and bath on the third floor. Very clean. Skinny stairs and steep. So if you can't climb, make sure you get a lower floor. Close to subway, but late nights take longer to get back to hostel. There are people out at all hours, but I was never bothered. Everyone either minded their business or were friendly. I never felt unsafe and I'm a woman.

I had a private room with a bathroom for context. I enjoyed the minimalism of the space - it was perfect for a trip that was going to keep me out in the city most of the day anyway. The location off the subway was very convenient. There were numerous shops, restaurants, and pharmacies within walking distance. For the hosteling crowd, this was a a nice quiet place to stay.
