The place is good, don’t get me wrong! But management is the worst. We got a message on booking that somebody else is in our room 20 minutes before arrival because as we found out later the room was double booked. From what I’ve read in other comments, it’s not a rare thing to happen here, the guy has multiple platforms and never bothers to check if he might have the place already rented out on one of them. And we could have been more understanding, as you know things happen, but what was incredibly upsetting was his complete lack of acknowledgement and apology. Especially considering we booked the place a month before. The Gold Rush is not your average Expedia property- NO, this is a VRBO (owned by Expedia). 8 days before my trip, I tried to reach out to the property owner/host. I needed a rollaway bed or cot for my traveling partner. I tried FOUR different methods- I emailed, called, texted and messaged through the Expedia website. To this day, I still have yet to get a reply. I spoke with VRBO about my issues. They tried to contact the host and they could not either. They would not let me get a refund and I booked MONTHS in advance, so I could not get a solution from my credit card. So I was stuck with the reservation or I would lose my money. Instructions are vague at best. We arrived and found the main house, which no one was working at. I found rooms upstairs, but none were labeled "Gold Rush". So w

Perfect rustic getaway! Beautiful wooden mountain house with a cozy, clean room and great location. Loved the relaxing yard and all-day coffee and tea. We even met friendly guests — such a warm, welcoming place. Everything was perfect!

We arrived to check in and the only person there was an Asian lady that was a maid. She didn’t speak any English and had to use a translator phone to communicate with me. After 45 min she showed us a cottage that was available. After entering the room I looked in the bathroom and the tub had soap scum all the way around it and was full of hair. The air conditioning did not work and there was dust everywhere. My wife owned a cleaning business for 22 years and said this is disgusting I’m not staying here. She wanted to go home but I found another place called Frontier Lodge that was absolutely AMAZING nice brand new cottages I gave them 5 stars wish I could give them more. Stay away from Eagles Nest

extremely unprofessional, they double booked us but didn't let us know until the night before we supposed to check in. We had to scramble to find a new accommodation nearby. We contacted the property owner/manager to voice our frustration and disappointment, the only thing he can tell us was "bad things happen in life"
