DoubleTree by Hilton New York Midtown Fifth Ave

The Doubletree offers great value. Multiple subway and bus lines are less than a block away. Located adjacent to Rockefeller Center you are a 2 minute walk from the Christmas tree and ice rink, and a 3 minute walk away from Radio City Music Hall, in a neighborhood where many hotels (St. Regis, Peninsula) have rates starting at well over $1,000/nt. For a fraction of that cost, the rooms are entirely brand new after what was clearly a multimillion dollar transformation from a dated Raddison Hotel, including all new furnishings, bathrooms, HVAC, bedding, linens, etc. There was abundant lighting and outlets in our room - which was spotlessly clean. Most importantly, we found the service to be friendly, professional, personal and attentive. There is a decent gym on the 6th floor and a pop

Location is amazing. Rooms were clean and quiet. Elevator was horrible during check in/out, but most moderate-priced hotel places in NYC have this issue. I do like that you can check in your luggage early and then leave it after check out, but the bell hops are pretty terrible - we had to go with them to find our bags both at check in and check out. Other than that, I have no complaints and would stay here again.

This Doubletree is conveniently located on the North edge of Rockefeller Center on 51st Street. The rooms feel new. I stayed in a King Suite. King Bed, sofa sleeper, Microwave and Fridge. One step bathroom. A decent size room. Front task staff friendly and helpful. |Challenges: Rooms have no desk or place to comfortably sit and work. There is no lobby. The restaurant staff for breakfast was surly, and slow. The patio are where breakfast is served is cold in January. Hotel has only two elevators for over 25 floors. Workout room- weights, 1 peloton, elliptical, and two treadmills.||Hotel was reasonable value for money if you do not mind the challenges.

The hotel is a bit old for my taste. The room facilities aren't the most practical. I was expecting a Hilton and we arrived at a sub-branch of the Hilton we are used to. A silly example: there are no slippers or cotton swabs. The elevator is so slow it could be listed in the Guinness World Records. The cleaning of the rooms is not perfect All the staff without exception are very attentive, present, and helpful. That's very much appreciated. The hotel's location is really its strong point, three steps from Rockefeller center, you can see Radio City Hall from the hotel, between Fifth and Sixth Avenue it is really strategic. We do everything while walking.

Great location, great staff (Mohammed thank you for being SUPER helpful) but logistically, not the best hotel. |Lifts took forever, there were only 2. Always packed! |The room was only cleaned/refreshed towels etc, when we chased up housekeeping. |Lobby was so small, people checking in had nowhere to stand/wait - luggage everywhere, no seating at all. Not a chance of waiting inside for an uber. For $500 a night (admittedly Xmas week, and this includes all the extra taxes charged), could do much better, I’m sure. Again, staff were great, it’s just the overall set up.
