Der Ruhe Blatz Motel

Clean rooms, nice smell. Not much of breakfast offered. Tea/coffee/cereal/toast. That room had a slight order. Frustrating part was if you bring pups they doubled fee to $50. Not what website said of $25. Reason I booked was pet fee. Best they offered me was $23 off bill. Nice cheap place to stay, just be aware with pets....

We enjoyed an excellent night of sleep in our lovely room, which had everything we needed. Our room was very clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was included, so the next morning we grabbed a quick meal before snapping a photo of the horse ‘n buggy weather vane that we loved. We recommend this motel!

Positive: It was beautiful and simple. Would definitely go back. Negative: I fell out of the Cafe area. Spoke to manager and just didn't seem to care. More of wanting to point it was my fault. We wasn't trying to get anything free just wanted them to know. I'm just glad it wasn't the older couple that could have done it.

This place needs an update of the rooms. My room had an odor to it of not cleaned. I told the lady that was working the front desk and I was told it is their off season and the room had not been used for awhile. There is no off season at Shipshewana Indiana because they have events years round at various places. If room has not been used for awhile and you are going to have guest in the room freshen up before the arrival of guest. Use common sense. I took wipes and cleaned all counter top, tables and TV remote. Oh yes, the TV did not work. Update the place and get better housekeepers. Also, I had my dog with me and I did not bring any of his toys from home and he had this dog chew toy he found in the room. Example the room was dirty and not cleaned. Location 5 stars, close to everything. Rooms 2 stars, yes clean however; refrigerator did not have a freezer compartment so we were unable to keep our icepacks frozen. Table & chairs in front of ac/h so everytime it came on we'd get blasted in the face. Towels and wash clothes worn and thin. Service 1 star. We had reservations for 2 nights. At time of checking in at 3:38p, we asked if we could cancel the second night because one of us had to go back to work a day early, the next day. The younger lady asked the older one that was sitting there and was told no because we need 48 hours notice. I showed her the reservation stating 24 hours. Yes we were short by 38 minutes but again was refused. I feel there was a lack of understanding. This was like our 3rd or 4th stay at Der Ruhl Blatz and u
