Death Valley Inn

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience deserves one. First off, the noise levels were unbelievable. The room had an adjoining door to the next room, and you could hear every single word spoken next door – no exaggeration. If you're a light sleeper, be warned: bring earplugs or be ready for a sleepless night.||||The hotel itself was way too expensive for the standard offered. At this price point $130+, I expected more comfort, but instead, I found there was no warm water in the bathroom sink.||||Overall, it felt more like a budget motel pretending to be something it’s not.

This place is much farther from Death Valley than expected, which was already disappointing, but unfortunately the stay itself was even worse. The toilet in our room barely flushed at all. We reported it to the front desk and were told someone would come to check, but no one ever did. The front desk staff appeared indifferent, showed little willingness to resolve the issues, and their attitude was unhelpful. The room had an extremely strong insecticide or chemical smell. After staying inside for a short time, it caused a headache that lasted the entire night. It was genuinely uncomfortable. We were also locked out of our room twice due to a faulty door lock. At first we thought it was just our room, but later found out the neighboring guests had the same issue and were also locked out.

The carpets were grungy and didn’t feel clean. The sink drained very slowly, and when we arrived the toilet bowl was dirty, with someone else’s hair stuck in the grime. The room door was extremely difficult to open and required multiple tries and a lot of force. I later noticed other reviewers mentioned having the same issue. Only two large towels were provided for three guests. The beds had cheap, spring mattresses, and the soundproofing was poor. On the plus side, there was free parking and decent views. Note that it’s about a forty five minute drive into Death Valley, so it’s not very close.

For the location this is good enough. It’s in the middle of nowhere, but the view outside is so beautiful. The rooms are big, but the layout of the bathroom is a but weird (see the pic). Breakfast is not much, just packaged items, but there’s freshed brewed coffee. The room could be cleaned a bit better, but it’ll do.
