Days Inn by Wyndham Barstow

I loved the price and was pleased by the cleanliness of the room. Breakfast was small, but nice. Bagels, cream cheese, yogurt, and juice. Staff was friendly. The room had a fridge and microwave. The toilet did make a high pitched squeaky sound after each flush, which was weird. But it didn't last long.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. During breakfast, expired yogurt was served and consumed by 3-year-old children. We later discovered that the coffee creamer was also expired — by SIX months. Other items did like Bagel and oatmeal did not have any date on them. This is not a small mistake; it is a serious food safety and hygiene failure, especially when it involves toddlers. Expired dairy products can cause serious health issues in young children. The fact that guests had to check expiration dates themselves is alarming. This incident raises major concerns about the hotel’s food handling practices, staff training, and overall concern for guest safety. It’s well located and easy to find. The bed was comfortable and room was well equipped with fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Room was well maintained and clean. The only thing is that the wifi was not very stable in the late afternoon till night. Everything else was perfect. Had a comfortable 2 days rest.

Positives: |-The female afternoon clerk (when we checked in) and the femail evening clerk (that found us a coffee pot) were both friendly and helpful. |-The shower and frig worked well. |-The bed was a bit hard for my liking, but my husband thought it was fine.||Negatives:|-We had coffee packets in our room, but no coffee maker to use them with. After the clerk found us a coffee pot, there was no place to plug it in near the coffee area. |-The microwave kept locking and had to be unlocked to get it to open each time it was used. |-The afternoon clerk warned us that an error had been made during remodeling and the over bed lights could only be turned on by a switch that was located at mattress level behind the headboard. Very awkward, but at least we were told about it.|-Sticky splotches

Positive: The price. Negative: Cockroach in the front desk night window rattling as we passed pen and registration slip back and forth and charge card. Did not mention or apologize. As soon as I turned to go to my room I saw her flick it out onto the sidewalk.
