Customer Reviews
This is a good campground that is a bit rough around the edges. What we saw was clean facilities and average prices. Showers included if you RV/camp here. BIG tent area. The bathrooms and the laundry were older but functional with large water heaters. RV sites were somewhat undefined and close together. There is need for many more tables, grills and fire rings. The tent area is simply a mowed grass with a very few picnic tables /same for the RV section. We visited May 2024.
The tent sites are good--pretty shady with good grass--but it appears the RV sites are just in a gravel parking lot.||||No wifi in the campground.||||The shower/bath area is pretty clean, and there is a laundry area. The office is next door in the convenience store.||||It's near the intersections of highways 16 & 85, so convenient to town There isn't much traffic overnight, so the noise isn't too bad.
The showers were decent. There’s 3, and 3 or 4 stalls. You have to pay at the gas station, $5 a shower. Bring your own towel, and shower shoes. The bathroom smelled like stale cigarette smoke, doesn’t bother me, but be warned. Stalls are small, but private. There is one partition curtain between showers 1/2 and the rest of the place.
We stayed here two nights so we could visit Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park, then continue westward. Nice base, very rustic RV camping. We used 50A, full hook ups. Spots are close together, so with slides out, anybody parking next to us would have to shimmy through to utilities. Nobody parked next to us though... Worth it for the price and location, but sparse gravel and tufts of grass in each spot. We were here during Sturgis motorcycle rally, so lots of tent camping around the park and pretty loud (bikes).
We stayed here for 6 months with our two dogs in our 43ft 5th wheel .We had a wonderful experience and no complains. The park is quiet, the shower house and the laundry work just fine. Overall a great experience! Also it’s no longer the Crystal Park Campground. You’ll want to call the Travel Center for reservations and to check-in which is the large gas station next to the campground.
