Courtyard by Marriott Ocala

Let me start by saying I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones.||I booked a room at the Courtyard Marriott in Ocala on November 12-13. The website casually mentioned they were undergoing renovations. When I arrived at 1:00 pm., the elevator in the lobby was blocked off with a plastic curtain and masking tape. I asked if I could take the stairs since my room apparently was over the lobby. I was told I couldn't take the stairs, but that I should park my car around back, take the elevator up to my floor on the other side of the building, and walk down two full hallways (half the building) to my room. Along the way, I noticed that several other doors/elevators similarly were blocked off and there was a strong chemical smell. ||It wasn't the fact that the renovations were extensi

The hotel is undergoing major construction, so there are a significant number of parking spots taken by construction material and there is ongoing work inside the hotel. Although I completely understand that construction happens and aprieciate the hotel upgrading thier rooms, there should be transparency to inform customers about the construction before booking. At $175 per night I expected better.

Do not stay at this hotel. Construction set off a building alarm that sounded like a bombing raid siren at or before 7:30 am that had my pregnant wife and I running outside in our underwear. The bombing sirens were on top of a regular fire alarm and left us stunned and maybe with hearing damage. I was told by the front desk that this had happened at least 3 times that week and I could talk to the manager about a hotel voucher or refund. I've called at least 10 times over 3 weeks now and every time I'm told a manager will call me back. I have still yet to hear back.

This location is pretty central for a visit to Ocala. We visited family nearby and then drove about 1.5 hour to Busch Gardens from this hotel too. Upon check out Annissa at check out was very friendly, Robert was also helpful when I had to fix an error that I had with the booking. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and we had a patio that was also clean and felt safe for relaxing.
