TLDR: Loud property, unclean rooms, bad sleep and unfriendly staff - do not recommend! I'm not quite sure I have ever had a worse stay at a Marriott property than at Courtyard Chelsea. The staff was truly abysmal, with no personalization nor even asking me how my day was going when checking in nor asking me how my stay was at checkout. I was purely a number in a system and there was no hospitality whatsoever. My room had makeup on the sheets upon arrival, however, given I was only staying 1 night decided not to ask for housekeeping. The window seal had a broken flap banging throughout my stay, so it created a loud noise all throughout the night. Lastly, there were hallway disturbances (eg loud elevators, guests speaking loudly, loud doors slamming) throughout the night with disrupting my
The facilities and water pressure in the bathroom left much to be desired but the staff were so kind and nice, especially during a busy holiday weekend. Carlos and Tenzin at Table 135 were exceptionally kind and accommodating. They kept an oatmeal aside for me two mornings in a row after they sold out the first morning. They were cheerful and could not do enough to make us smile, amid a very busy time with guests. The front desk staff and housekeeping staff were also so helpful and kind. The hotel had delicious hot chocolate and marshmallows in the lobby when we came back from a freezing cold day and my kids were thrilled. Wonderful staff - the place just needs a facelift.
The room is up to interior design trend but with humility smell. The bath towers are old and thin. The pillows are hard, and the mattress is soft not firm enough, I end up with neck and back pain the next morning and didn't sleep well at all. The TV shout down during the middle of the show.
Great stay during Christmas week! The location is the biggest highlight—I walked everywhere in Midtown and hardly used the subway. The rooms are new, clean, and a comfortable size for NYC. One minor downside: they provide bar soap instead of liquid soap for handwashing and don’t offer lotion, lobby area is quite small but they have comfy sitting area behind for the guests. Still, it's a very decent, safe and convenient hotel for the price.
It was a nice stay overall. Spent the night here with my family. Not much of a view, but the location is primarily safe. A bit sketchy at night but police precinct is directly across. A ton of restaurants around the area. Easily assessable to train station/hub centric. Rooms were clean and well kept. I contacted the location via Bonvoy app and they were able to accommodate our request for double beds. In fact they might have upgraded us. It was just the most expensive mariott stay vs out of the city stays. Breakfast is not complimentary and expensive. Which worked out great since we were able to try pop up bagels!
