Costa Art Hotel, Laguna Beach

Stayed here two nights. Let me start with how perfect the location was. So close to the beach and not having to deal with finding parking out on the street and then paying to park the car made our stay worth it. However I do have to address the room situation so if you’re looking to stay there you know what to expect. The room looked nothing like what was advertised online. The picture online looked like a nicely renovated room with a huge walk in shower. That was not the case. First thing I noticed was the smell of mold in the room, secondly it was not renovated and of course the shower was a huge old tub peeling from the drain area. The bathroom door did not stay closed, the handle was broken. The bathroom faucet was also broken, the width of the water coming out was smaller than a penc

Needed a reasonably priced spot in Laguna that was private and quiet. It was absolutely that and then some. From the decor to the amenities. Paul, at the front desk, was a great calming energy to walk into and he was extremely helpful. I have since returned once already and anticipate being back somewhat regularly.

Check in was easy and fast. Plenty of parking. Front desk is amazing on both shift. Free transportation is close by. Walking distance to the beach (not Treasure Island) - less crowded. Breakfast is good. Room is clean and spacious.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room had 2 king sized beds and was spacious with a nice big bathroom. There is a laundry room on site that you can use with an app. Breakfast was included, it was small but perfect for what we needed. The kids had cereal and we had bagels with egg. The pool heating was broken but we still used the pool and it was fine. Patrick was very welcoming, in comparison the other staff didn’t say anything, no hello, no good morning, even on checking out there was no conversation.

Breakfast was relatively ok, location is very good, free car parking, complementary water in the room and chocolates we liked. Our room was not ready (double queen) on time (3.30 pm) so we waited patiently but when we finally went to leave our stuff there we were shocked - the condition of the room 112 is very far from the photos on Booking. It is very old, there were scratches on the furniture, the bedsheets were so old that we could not believe they had been washed after the previous guests. The shower did not work as it should, there was mold in the corners but the worst thing was the odor, the cleaning staff used so strong chemicals to obviously mask the smell from the pipes that we could not breath there normally.
