Cosmopolitan Hotel and Restaurant

I chose this experience as a hotel close to the airport overnight. The room was quite charming & was nice to have the historic charm. The bed was comfortable and a bath tub was clutch. However the whole place shuts down at 11pm making a late check in quite difficult to navigate after a long day. Inside the bathroom there was noticeable wood rot that moved with each step which seems super sketch like the floor could fall through at any moment in certain areas.

Over the July 4th weekend, we stayed at the Cosmopolitan in Old Town. We loved it!!! Very comfortable, great AC, Wi-Fi, and no TV, just like the Old Days. We enjoyed lounging in the Coutyard, listening to music, and drinking margaritas. The bartender was great!!! Dee, the hotel manager, is seen mingling among the guests, making sure that all your requests and expectations are met. Michael, who owns a local ghost investigation tour on the hotel property, that was productive in proof of the after life and very help full w/ equipment direction and use. The Trolley Station is just off the Old Town property and give us easy access to all of San Diego including Little Italy. Amazing Merchant Outdoor Market on Saturday and tasty foods. We are coming back in August for our anniversary and birthday

The location is lovely, but this hotel leaves much to be desired. I can definitely appreciate the historic value, but it is desperately in need of some updates: such as air freshener due to an extreme musty smell and a new curtain that can draw out light from the sun. Antique furniture is part of the ambiance here, but perhaps some dusting and repair would be good. Perhaps those things could be overlooked if it wasn’t for this: Upon walking into the room; I immediately felt a darkness, sadness and an oppressive feeling in the air. It was palpable. It was downright spooky and I could sense a ghostly presence. I checked out 5 minutes after checking in. I was offered another room, but this wouldn’t alleviate that darkness in the air and so I left. Do not recommend.

Affordable price, clean rooms, and nice location right in the heart of Old Town! We had a great time during our 1-night stay. A few small suggestions: The bed was a little creaky but otherwise comfortable. We had a bit of trouble finding where to check in so I would maybe add a sign outside to make that more apparent.

Our one-night stay was excellent. The room was quite large, very comfortable and loved the historic nature of the whole hotel. The continental breakfast was enough to satisfy with delicious scones and croissants. Sorry that the saloon and restaurant were not open during our stay, but the atmosphere of Old Town offered many options for a great evening. Look forward to another stay.
