Comfort Inn Gaslamp Convention Center

If you need a cheap place to stay in Gaslamp district within walking distance this is okay. It was clean, nothing fancy. Staff at front desk was friendly with helpful suggestions on where to eat or how to get to places! We stayed in a double bed room. The bed was brick hard! This room was too small for two people. I have been on 50 plus cruises and it seemed smaller than an inside cabin. This was my fault for choosing a double bed room. I’m suggesting that two or more stay in a queen or king room. I would recommend this for a cheap place. The bathroom sink is in the main room around the corner from the toilet. The mirror was too far away from where I was standing. Conveniently located if you want to be close to pubs and clubs. Many homeless people hanging around in the close location, noisy at night. Room clean and fairly comfortable, beds not very comfy but it will do for a night. We stayed two nights, one would have been enough. Staff ok, not that friendly, but it does the job. Breakfast best be taken elsewhere, i tasted it a bit, ended up just having a coffee. Staff were good keeping our luggage whilst we went out for the day to see old town and go up to the airport to hire a car.

Great location with friendly staff, but some room issues The location is excellent—plenty of restaurants and local shops within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is older but well-maintained and quiet. Our room had a few maintenance issues: the sink drained very slowly, and the ceiling fan and light didn’t work at all. Parking is the main drawback at $50/night through the hotel. There’s a lot 3 blocks away for $35/night, or you can try street meters, though availability isn’t guaranteed. Be aware there’s a significant homeless presence in the area, with a Salvation Army facility nearby that attracts encampments. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, shower and amenities were all good. The location is perfect near bars, restaurants, and entertainment choices. Will stay again but will share that the biggest negative is charging $50 for parking per night! Pretty nuts! This kinda nonsense should be mentioned PROMINENTLY in the ad or better yet STOP charging or something reasonable like 10 or 15 bucks if at all! Thank you...

The staff (Celeste and another gentleman we did not catch the name of) were incredibly kind and accommodating. We had several one-off requests that they didn't blink an eye at and did it with a smile. We have traveled quite a bit and this is some of the best service we have had. The room was comfortable with great beds and cold a.c. The only downside was there was a dead cockroach on the floor, hair in the bathroom, and the TV frequently disconnected from the internet. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, especially considering the price. If we come back to the area, we would have no problem staying here again.
