Citrus On the Lake Boutique Hotel / Citrus Sky Bar Tavares

Should of drove 35 mins to Orlando I don’t usually write reviews, but this stay was very disappointing. The hotel is located right next to the sheriff’s department and near a jail, and honestly the atmosphere felt very institutional. We stayed for a wedding where rooms were blocked for the party, yet we were charged more and placed in different buildings. Security didn’t make sense — you needed a key for the elevator but anyone could access the stairs. My room was not clean (I even found candy under the bed), the bed was sinking, and there were no towels, shampoo, or conditioner. Restaurants listed as open until 9–10 PM closed early every night, and there was no room service. Now when calling the hotel, their voicemail says they were hacked. We stayed here planning to go to Eustis for the annual Georgefest. We came with a group of around 12 people. Unfortunately the show was rained out, we discovered this sitting at the Sky Bar having a pregame cocktail. We told the bartenders and they gave us the run down of the town so we still had a great night. It was our first trip away from our 4 month old baby, so it wasn’t easy. But the hotel was clean and had a beautiful view. We were right above an incredible steakhouse, Ironworks. The man at the front desk was incredibly patient and kind. We plan on coming back with our little one in the summer.

I cannot review the hotel because I did not stay there. I did not review the sky bar when it first opened because I thought it was so pathetic. Wait in line to order your drinks or food, then wait in line to pick it up?!? I thought the ZERO SERVICE concept was because it had just opened. I thought I would give them a chance since it was the first week of opening…. NOTHING has changed. The only reason you should go to the sky bar is for the views and if you enjoying going out paying premium prices to serve yourself drinks and appetizers! They presented a check with25% gratuity for serving yourself. ?!?!?!?Other than the view, this place has nothing to offer. We booked a lakeview room which came with a balcony. The view includes the pool, a marina, and a seaplane area and of course a great view of the lake. Restaurants and shops are in easily walkable distance. The room was spotless, well furnished, clean and quiet, although the furniture was a little dated. There is ample free parking adjacent to the hotel. The front desk staff were is a class by themselves and made us feel welcome. They went out of their was to make sure we enjoyed not only our stay, but the Tavares area as well. Our room was in the building closest to the lake (352 Ruby Street) so I cannot comment on the other buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again.

Even though the hotel and its premises are undergoing through renovations and other things. Jack at the front desk was very kind, patient and helpful. He accommodated us to the best of his knowledge and ability. He upgraded us to the best room without extra fee. Very generous of him. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful lake view and sunrise view. Very grateful Thanks!
