Our favorite place to stay in New Orleans. Hosts Jill and Charles make you feel like old friends sharing the most beautiful neighborhood in New Orleans. The rooms are charming and arranged around a lush courtyard. We’ve stayed in three of the rooms over the course of several visits and each was comfortable, spotless and well-appointed with all the amenities you might need. The neighborhood is delightful—quiet with beautiful, classic New Orleans Garden District homes set in lovely gardens. If you are visiting on the right night you might be treated to an impromptu neighborhood jazz concert on the front porch of a nearby home. The many shops and restaurants of Magazine Street are a short 10 minute walk away in one direction, with St. Charles Avenue a few minutes in the opposite direction. I
This is a charming, delightful, and, welcomingly understated bed and breakfast. I recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for a home away from home with owners who really do care about your comfort. We used room 5 and enjoyed the extra space to spread out. Jill is an absolute delight who charmed us with stories of the areas and suggestions as to restaurants and areas of interest. The Garden District is the place to stay, particularly if you prefer quiet at night and a true sense of New Orleans charm which exists today.
Loved my stay at the Chimes and I hope to return again. Jill was quick to respond to questions by email and was accommodating with my arrival/departure times. My room was lovely, the courtyard was charming, and morning coffee was much appreciated! I didn’t take advantage of breakfast, but I’m sure it was delicious. The location also can’t be beat with easy walking access to St Charles and Magazine. Highly recommend!
The Chimes is hands-down the best place to stay in New Orleans. I’ve stayed 5–6 times with family and friends, and every visit feels magical. Cozy rooms, a perfect Garden District location, easy parking, and the kindest host you’ll ever meet. Breakfast with Jill is pure lagniappe — we even made friends with a couple from Germany and still talk six years later! Worth every penny. Nothing else compares
We stayed at Chimes when visiting New Orleans for a wedding! The neighborhood was great and we really enjoyed our room. The bathroom was very nice and spacious. I was worried our room looked a little small, but it was perfect. There were stands for luggage and plenty of storage room. I especially appreciated that there were lots of shower towel bars in the bathroom so it was easy to dry the towels. The owners were very nice and were responsive to any messages.
