Customer Reviews
Castle Lakes is a beautiful campground on the Alpine Loop with direct access to two private lakes. It doesn’t get much prettier. To top it off, the service level provided by Monica and Ben is outstanding! I highly recommend a stay here if you are in the Lake City area.
Campground is beautiful, right in the forest next to two crystal clear lakes. Ben was very helpful and nice. There are nice hiking trails near by and we were 20 min from Lake City. We also biked on the Aloine loop right by the campground. Be aware of the potential for the altitude sickness. For us it wasn’t too bad ( a bit of headache and hard time to fall asleep), you might want to allow a couple of days to get used to it before doing a long hike. For the negative part: We broke down with our tow vehicle, we arrived one day later. And we had to leave one day early because of very bad allergies due to the forest. The pollen was in full in June! We didn’t know that would have been so bad. You might want to go in August or September. So we pay two days that we didn’t actually used. It would
We arrived on Nova Scotia through Digby and made our way down past Yarmouth to the campground. It’s a bit off the beat and path, but we found it just fine (good signage and GPS coordinates worked).||The staff was wonderful and friendly. We arrived and the place was generally full with children playing everywhere. It was Halloween (at least that day at this campground) and the children were all dressed in costumes and walking around with candy (one even left a couple of gum balls on our picnic table). ||The sites for the tents were clean and tidy. The staff delivered firewood on request ($5 CAN) and the people were very pleasant. We met a couple who had been motorcycling around the world since 2015!||The bath house was new construction and tiled. Separate showers and bathrooms (combined) so
We loved everything about Castle Lakes! The RV campsites are nice because they are not right on top of each other. Plenty of room for dogs, camping chairs, & coolers. The office has plenty of souvenirs & necessities, but don't expect to go by the posted hours of operation as the host(s) live there & they are on their own time.
Wonderful location in the middle of the forest where the stars shine bright at night. We stayed in cabin C and it provided us the essentials, mainly a place to lay our heads at the end of a full day of riding. We fell in love with the small friendly town of Lake City a few years ago and continue to keep it at the top of our list.
