Casa Ybel Beach Resort

We've been coming for forty years and love Casa Ybel. They're still recovering from massive hurricane damage, but we just had a very pleasant week there. One of the highlights was tennis. We're lifelong tennis players, and our absolute favorite coach, of all times, Kerry Kendrick is back! She's a spectacular instructor, and we have definitely improved as a result of her professional attention. If you're interested in upping your game, she's definitely the one!!

We had a wonderful week (8/8 to 8/15) at Casa Ybel. A lot of progress was made and was still ongoing. Plants were being put in and some minor painting and sprucing. The pool, spa and deck are rebuilt but have yet to open. We were told that inspections are needed to be completed. It looks loke a pergola and sidewalks are yet to be put in. The pool was posted as closed but we were provided with free lounge chairs and umbrellas for the beach as a comp. I would guess (hope) that by August 2026 all will be restored. |Most of the southern coast of the island is still being reconstructed as other resorts and businesses haven’t been fully repaired. Lots of construction sites are present and some of the hurricane devastation can be seen. Bailey’s is scheduled to return as is the Mucky Duck

My husband and I went to this resort last weekend. The pool is closed and the restaurant is not open even though they have pictures on the website appearing as though they are open. My husband (Navy Veteran) has a collapsed lung and is unable to access the beach so we were planning on spending time at the pool. We stayed one night after discovering the pool issue and requested a refund for the following 2 nights. We cannot get the Director of Resort Operations to even return our calls. We have called daily to no avail. Do not waste your money or time. We feel cheated.

Very poor management. Pool not open. The 1 bedrooms are several flights of stairs. The manager of the resort was very very hard to reach. Their philosophy seems to be ignored ignore ignore I won’t stay here again if they paid me.. location is very far down so difficult to get off the island. The east end is easier to get on and off and has much more activity these days.

What started out as an awesome resort decades ago, unfortunately has fallen into mediocrity over the last 10+ years. Units are nice and have most modern amenities, but units are plagued with problems and shotty construction. I understand the issues that come with 3 storms in 3 years but when a lot of easy things are broken and it takes time out of your day to coordinate with maintenance it makes the stay a little unenjoyable. Pool is not open, the restaurant is not open, and no attempt to make it right with replacements, discounts, or at the very least some type of coordination (aka concierge). Tennis courts/pickleball courts should have sun shades as well as the children's playground. They might actually get used if those were available.
