Carter Creek Winery Resort & Spa

This is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The rooms are nicely decorated, clean, and offer wonderful amenities! The winery itself is gorgeous and so nice to walk around. The best part of it all is how kind all of the staff is! I’d tell anyone to stay here if you’re visiting hill country!

Room was decent, but the shower had water damage to the baseboard and grout coming out of a corner from nearly floor to ceiling, it wasn't dirty, just not well maintained. It was a little chilly to enjoy the pool, but it looked nice. Service is what killed the experience. The initial reception was good. Our spa experience was a little awkward. We walked into the spa reception area at our scheduled time and no one was there. About 5 minutes later the staff came in. They apologized and stated they were running a few minutes behind. We got into our robes but then we had to walk across the courtyard in our robes and spa sandals to get to the couples massage room. I'm unsure if they were short staffed or if this is normal, but it felt like the 2 women who were trying to provide the services and

Carter Creek is a charming winery and resort in the heart of Texas wine country. The expansive property features a winery and tasting room, restaurant, outdoor seating areas, villas and a spa. The villas are small, well appointed cottages that are very comfortable and private. Guests have use of a fitness room and pool, and can make appointments for spa services. I booked a massage and was very pleased with the service, even though I am very picky. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The tasting room and the restaurant both offer wine flights, with very generous pours. My favorite was the 2023 Pinot Grigio. This property is located just outside of Johnson City, making access to the Texas wine country easy, but also providing a rural feel.

We loved our stay! Beautiful grounds, super friendly staff and excellent wine, beer and food (we had the Brussels sprouts and pepperoni pizza). A nice touch that the room stay (when booked directly) comes with a complimentary wine tasting - hats off to Katie in the tasting room, she’s fantastic! We love the location and that the property is so dog-friendly. We’ve stayed in or near Fredericksburg many times and Carter Creek will be our new go-to place. The live music and awesome lawn area were the perfect place to enjoy our last glasses of wine for the day and then just walk back to our room. Can’t beat that! Don’t be dismayed by older reviews on here. It is clear that management has stepped up and they are taking great care of everything. Our room was clean, tidy and well-appointed. Cheers

We went for a wedding in October and booked a room at the resort so we could be on property and not have to drive after the wedding. For $350/night, the room was old, dusty, smelled like mold, and when we requested our room to be refreshed nothing was done. We were left with wet towels, that smelled like mold. Luckily we asked for extra towels at check-in.||||The wedding was great and the staff fantastic, but the rooms really need to be refreshed and checked for mold. When we left, my clothes that were hanging in the closet now smelled musty. ||||Like the title says, this resort could be nice, but not worth $350/night.
