Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton

We stayed here for my husband's birthday weekend. We picked it due to its close proximity to the harbor, restaurants and walking distance to great coffee shops. We enjoyed our room. Everything was clean and the front desk service was top notch. We ate breakfast there one morning and I would recommend to anyone the avocado toast! We used Uber for far away transportation and the pickup and drop off was perfect.

Overall solid but far from amazing. ||The room was nice. Lots of outlets. Fridge. Decent bath amenities, clean and quiet. ||The gym was unbelievable- it is a full fledged fitness club with more equipment than you can imagine, as well as the small lap pool. ||Breakfast was a complete miss. First you order what you want from a register and have to decide what to tip before you even meet the server. And then the food I got was both gross - think raw eggs which just left a pool in the bowl, and impossible to eat because no spoon and waitress never returned. Certainly not with the $28 it cost with a cup of coffee and undeserved tip. ||No recognition of Hilton diamond status. Room upgrade was to a “city view” which is every room in the hotel. ||Would I stay here again? For the gym yes. Would I

Location is decent just on the edge of Little Italy, quite quiet and easy access to the harbourfront. Pool is small and completely surrounded by other buildings and the roof top was cold in the evening even in early September. Forgetting to clean the room one day was annoying. Lobby bar was ok early evening but is closed by 8 it seems. Bed had definitely seen better days. 4 stars is a stretch imho.

I just want to say that Jordan at the front desk saved us! We booked our stay through the Chase Portal, and it was cancelled without us knowing, but Jordan was able to reinstate our reservation, and was able to get us late check out too. The hotel overall is nice. The rooms and bathrooms are nice too. And the hotel itself was clean. The elevators have a new system that I had not seen before, which made it easy to get a ride without having to wait too long. And the location is really good for getting to the beach or to getting food.

I would of expected better. Kind of "meh" experience. Parking is $70/night at the valet, or $25/night at the condos next door. The Best Western has free parking. Empty water bottles left in room from previous guests. Beds are meh at best. Rooms are small. Towels, hand towels, toilet paper, tissues....everything seems cheap. Have had better 'supplies' from a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn. City view is a view of an abandoned building and a parking lot. Pool is heated, but still on the cold side for the spring weather, considering there's little to no sun on the pool deck (condos block most the sun). Also, pool is either dirty or stained. Didnt get in to figure out which. Food and drinks at the downstairs Cafe is very "meh" (sticking with the theme). Maybe the rooftop lounge is bet
